Hokori

For over 6 years Hokori have dwelled within the shadows of the Michigan underground metal scene, stealthily honing their craft, awaiting a day when they could unleash their breed of self titled "Bay City Brutality". A bukkake of brutal cords, deep, pummeling gutturals mixed with ear piercing shrieks, all kept in time by simple, yet aggressive drumming, has become Hokori mainstay in the underground. Such reckless abandon, self defaming humor, and all around shenanigans is what brought them to the attention of The Revolution Music out of Saginaw Michigan. Following the recent release of their first full length, Mortal Wasteland, a relationship was formed, and culminated into the signing of Hokori in the summer of 2008. Almost immediately following this contract Hokori was again back in the studio in February of 2009 at Fire Hyena Studios in Saginaw Michigan. There they worked with Chris Lewis on their first "studio" album as a group, taking only 2 weeks to record in full. After many nights of mixing and mastering the cd was finished, and after months of layout and planning on the album cover, artwork and content the album was released for online sales on Devils Night 2009!
Shortly before the impending release of this disc, Hokori parted ways with their band founder and drummer, leaving them with little to no opportunity to prepare for the release date. They then found a suitable replacement, but again he too would leave the band, and leave Hokori in a state of temporary paralysis. Half a year later, when all hope it seemed, was lost, they happened upon a fellow metal head in Bay City who was interested in drumming. Through many nights of practice, he was able to grasp what the band was looking for, and improve upon it with his own stylings. His mix of death metal and black metal blasts give Hokori a sound not heard before.
Hokori have come a long way from their simple basement/bathroom recording days. They are now heard round the world via internet radio shows, downloads and read about through various publications. Even though the world around them becomes smaller, they still hold fast to the principles and ideals that helped forge this band as one of Michigan most brutal and aggressive metal bands! Look for new works to come as "The Bastard Sons of Bay City" again start to write new tracks for the eventual second Revolution Music release slated for sometime in the next two years.
