working together in a band called himom! is as difficult as trying to make the world a better place to live in. the band does not want to be a so called an 'environmentalist band' or such, they just spread the words of an ideal 'healthy home' called earth. having members with different backgrounds and different influences, the band try to elaborate their capability in creating some kind of sound and tunes, which theirselves think a bit cheesy to call it 'different'. they are not as different as many other bands you find in the scene, they just having some kind of attitude to not only create music, but to create ambience.
when nowadays bands produce music while they keep looking back towards their magical influences, himom! members keep holding on to what they belive as self respect. now, imagine what a band will sound like when each of the members stays faithful to what they believe as their religion. and what to name their genre is not as difficult as looking at the back of your hands. alternative is the easiest way to name them, because there are so many formulas to create the music. they 'steal' the essential parts of some of the great bands and soloists, their soul and ambient in creating such music. to many influences and repertoirs to be mentioned in this writings, but to regard their capability for creating such genius music here are some of them, Bjork, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Collective Soul, and Chrisye.
next step, instead of just performing music, they also try create some kind of visual distraction on the stage backdrop. well, the completion of having a stage performance focuses not only in the production of good music, but also visual. as simple as having a complete performance to achieve a total 'state of the art' comprehension. but that's just they way they feel, we only rely on the audiences' verdict.
what you think what an ideal band should be is completely based on the you see, hear,and feel. the way people experience their lifeline is different to one another. what i can say to you, when you see himom!, imagine that you are in a boat, floating in a rapid, you will feel the rush and the excitement, then you will realized that the rapid is gone and all you feel is a silent and flat river
