The story of Highly Unlikely is actually a likely story. Hailing from the island of Maui, Hawaii four guys found interest in the same thing. rock music. Starting out as a two-piece band with Andy Quamen on drums and George Gutierezz on guitar, the two played the same sound that they grew up listening to, the punk movement and the early metal of the eighties. But they felt that they needed to incorporate something new and fresh to the band. They asked their friend Ryan Serano to sing vocals. Still feeling that something was missing, Ryan suggested his high school friend Lewis Uptold to play guitar. Hearing the new guitar sound that Lewis brought to the band, George gladly moved over to bass.

Their humble beginnings as a band started during the summer of 2006 in Haiku in the loft of Andy’s house. The cramped space was less than ideal, but it did set the scene as a great environment to create some original and energetic rock music. Equipped with a broken down drum set, a borrowed guitar amp and a weekly rented bass amp, they were able to develop their first songs. "Shipwreck Monday" and "My Head Is Finally In the Game" were written as well as a few others and soon they had enough songs under their belt to start playing live shows.

During the summer of 2006 Highly Unlikely performed at various clubs across the island and a dedicated fan base was born. This brings the journey to December of 2006 where the band's future was now up in the air after the departure of their co-founding member George having to walk away from the band due to personal reasons. Although they remained without a bass player on Maui for the winter, it allowed time for the band to find a new member, Alex Lacke. Alex comes from a family of music and has fit in perfectly with their musical style. He has brought a brand new feeling to the band with his bass playing and energy on stage. Now with the last piece of the Highly Unlikely puzzle in place they were able to get back to doing what they love doing best, performing live. During 2007 and 2008 Highly Unlikely continued to play shows here on Maui as well as the island of Oahu. During the summer of 2008 Highly Unlikely participated in Maui's much anticipated Battle of the Bands. Many of Maui's most talented musical acts competed and Highly Unlikely put their stamp on this event by reaching the finals and making a name for themselves at the Hard Rock Cafe in Lahaina by giving a live show and stage presence that is second to none on the island. Their debut single "Someone You Know" has recieved radio airplay here on Maui's only rock station, X92.5 fm. So now the journey has officially begun and where they end up from here.only time will tell.
