Helsinki are a contemporary and experimental group. Atmospheric textures, evolving rhythms and melodies are richly entwined to satisfy the hungry pallet of the listener.

Helsinki were formed in 2006 by vocalist and song-writer Hayley Alker and Jonny Callender (Drummer and Producer). It was initially a studio based project but as the debut album's recording took shape, it soon became apparent that a live show should be developed.
Helsinki's recent live events are always interesting quality shows ranging from Art Exhibitions, Film Installations, BBC Solent Live Lounge, Festivals and themed parties along with more local gigs and launch parties hosted by local venues such as The Cellars.
Helsinki have also worked with Video Artist, Denise Callender (www.denisecallender.com) to produce videos for each song from their first and now second releases. The videos have been screened on the BBC Big Screen in Portsmouth and continue to do so until the end of this year (2010).
Jon's background in Production had developed working with various artists over the previous decade. Jon is also drummer with Carmen Rosa (also from Portsmouth) alongside Ben Baxter, Dave Neal, Steve Verdin and Lora Kirk.
Until recently, he was the drummer with established international group the Cranes and previously to that, Vex, which have recently re-formed as the Shutka Champions (facebook).
Hayley and Jon also write and perform with French band Curl from Nice alongside Franck Amendola, Will Garcia and Manu Acqualeni.

Other collaborations have featured italian composer / producer, Giorgio Li Calzi, Simon Heartfield and DJ Dave Spoon.
