H-DHAMI

Where UK Bhangra’s concerned, there seems to be only one name on everyone’s lips….H-Dhami.



H Dhami is the son of Palvinder Dhami, lead singer of legendary Bhangra group Heera which reigned supreme during the 80’s golden era. Born literally with a mic in his hand, Dhami was performing in the shadow of his father from the tender age of 6. With music running in his blood, it was inevitable that Dhami was to become a major driving force on the UK bhangra scene.



In 1998 Dhami, better known as H formed alliances with renowned music producer Rishi Rish who signed him to his very own powerhouse production company Rishi Rish Productions. This set the wheels in motion for what was to become one of the biggest breakthrough acts that the Asian music industry had seen in a long time.



In 2007, the talented Hounslow boy started to perform the UK Mela circuit and alongside Bollywood heavy weights like Shah Rukh Khan. H also went on to perform in Dubai and embarked on a city tour in the USA reigniting their love for UK bhangra.



The release of Dhami’s first single Sadke Java was a summer hit for 2007. It featured Rishi’s unique trademarks beats and with such fresh vocals, the single was an instant hit. Fans were also delighted to see slick, glossy production on the video and it was later voted Best video by ZEE TV viewers.



By early 2008 H released his debut album which shared the same name as his first single. The hotly anticipated Sadke Java featured 13 songs and collaborations with artists such as Roach Killa, Chaaya and Mumzy.



Within a year, the H Dhami story had begun. The album reached no 1 in all the Asian charts and radio stations, TV networks and critiques alike were eager to welcome the new boy on the block.



Following the release of him album, H went on his first tour of Asia and in doing so left a blazing trail spreading not only the name Dhami but also his boyish charm.



In March 2008 - less than 3 months after his album was released, H received the award for best newcomer at the prestigious B4U UK Asian Music Awards and his achievement was supported by industry insiders who not only hoped he would win but also expected it.



Despite his demanding work schedule H has also managed to take his first step on the coaching ladder by completing the FA Level 1 Coaching Course. The avid Arsenal supporter is the first Asian artist to participate in the FA’s ‘Football For All’ strategy set up to encourage young Asians to participate in the sport.



Since 2008 H has released 2 more tracks Mitran Di Jann and Har Gabroo from his hugely successful album. He’s released his album in India and North America and has been nominated for 3 awards including Best Act for the UK AMA’s 2009. He’s working on a range of projects including clothing and merchandise and is about to embark on a tour around Asia.



With un-faltered stage presence, dedication to his music and fans and an appetite for success, H Dhami’s success continues to grow – the boy who once shadowed his father is now undoubtedly living the dream.
