BIOGRAPHY

Luis Alvarez (known as "El Haragán"), whose first LP (also in CD) was released 20 years ago, has been instrumental in getting his band "HARAGAN Y COMPAÑIA" ("HARAGAN AND COMPANY") popularized in the many corners of Mexico as well as internationally. He and the other members of the group have fulfilled the musical needs and desires of all the fans of classic rock, managing thus to become one of the most representative groups of the Mexican "National Rock" scene.

The style of Haragan and Co. is a combination of rhythms from different types of music. We can find traces of blues, funk, reggae, rock & roll, heavy, punk, hard rock, rhythm & blues and Latin rhythms, amongst others, in their music. But more important to the band's fans are the words of the songs. Each one of the songs depicts, in a simple, direct and understandable way, the social, emotional and cultural reality of urban Mexico and its people…there are specific characters, well-known feelings and the ideas and dreams of the common people. This is precisely why the Mexican rock & roll fans and Haragan and Co. have formed such a strong bond.

"El Haragan" has been invited to participate in special performances for different record companies such as the "Tributo al Buen Carnal Rockdrigo González" and the "Tribute to the Tigres del Norte". The band's music has been featured in soundtracks of movie productions such as "El Mago", "Pandilleras", and "Fuera del Cielo".

Haragan and Co, has launched 12 discographic productions in Mexico, of which 8 are comprised entirely of original, previously-unpublished material. There is also a "best of" derived from the first 5 CD's and 3 CD's containing popular songs of the group, recorded "live in concert" ("en vivo").

Since 1989, Haragan and Co. has performed on important stages both nationally and internationally, managing to achieve a true communication with the audience they bring together. They are rightfully proud of the massive response they recieve, as was the case at the Festival Vive Latino in the Foro Sol 2004 and 2008, Hard Rock Live México, Lunario del Auditorio Nacional, Teatro Metropolitan, Rockotitlán, Toreo de 4 Caminos, Plaza de Toros México, Zócalo del Centro Histórico (all in Mexico City), XXI Festival Cultural de Zacatecas 2007 (Zacatecas, Mexico), The Greek Theatre (Hollywood, CA), JC Fandango, The Olympic Auditorium, The Shrine Auditorium, the Los Angeles Sports Arena (Los Angeles), The Fillmore (in San Francisco, CA), Roseland Ballroom (Portland, OR), The Aragon Ballroom (Chicago), The International Ballroom (Houston, TX and Atlanta, GA), Madison Square Garden (New York City), VI Concert against Racism in Granada, Spain. The group has also appeared at several high schools, universities, theaters and prisons in the Mexico City area, amongst other concerts.
