Marsha Hancock

Location:
Nashville, Tennessee, US
Type:
Artist / Band / Musician
Genre:
Country
Marsha grew up in Oxford, NC performing on every type of stage imaginable. Her musical influences include big power houses, such as, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Wynonna Judd, and Faith Hill. She loves to sing big, belty melodies with ol monster hooks.
Marsha graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelors of Music in Commercial Music with a double emphasis in Composition/Arranging and Performance. While she always had a passion for performing, it wasn't until she attended Belmont that she discovered her love for songwriting. "I learned a lot about music from the people that touched my life growing up in small town, USA. Country music tells intimate stories about family, love, and life experiences. I feel that people truly see who I am from listening to the songs that I write."
Marsha won the second Get Rich Talent Search hosted by none other than John Rich. She competed for fame and glory in front of eight industry judges including ASCAP's Connie Bradley, Warner Bros. A&R VP Tracy Gershon, CMA leader Tammy Genovese, Manager Marc Oswald, Billboard writer Ken Tucker, Producer/Warner Music Creative head Scott Hendricks, Sony BMG A&R Jim Catino and Music Row's David M. Ross. Marsha felt extremely honored to be chosen to perform for the talent search. John Rich gave Marsha stage advice from a page in his own career playbook, "You're going to have a big ole platinum hit record some day," he said. "But you're going to have to stick to it." Marsha is following Rich's advice and hopes one day to become a top country recording artist in the Nashville scene.
