“I like my coffee black · I’m not a girl who looks back · I like my jeans worn · won’t settle for less than a storm.”

Most comfortable in worn out blue jeans, these eyes scan the horizon at a constant for the breath of a new dawn. There remains a restlessness inside that does not know hesitation. Staying true to the Gypsy Soul within, an untamed curiosity chooses my direction. Driving into the unknown ignites a bold flame that never allows me to settle for less than a storm.

Yet I find serenity in the silence. Exploring, challenging the strength and beauty found only within. Contentment lies in the simplicity of my being. Pen in hand, my guitar giving form to the intangible space between spoken words. Breathing to know myself · living to ensure when my tomorrows turn to yesterdays I won’t look back and wonder what I’d change.

~ Haley

People often ask why I am pursuing a career in the music industry. The most honest answer I can give is that it is not a choice but a need. Music is the passion that drives me at a constant. Ever since childhood, art has allowed me to express the unspoken corners of my being. Those little hands grew to hold the pen of poetry and wrapped within the words I have found simplicity and truth. Not long after, I picked up my first guitar and started giving my words form with a melody.

As an artist, these eyes constantly scan the horizon for color in the seemingly black and white. In 2004 I moved to London, England to find that color. While living overseas I was fortunate enough to backpack Western Europe, playing at various pubs and submersing myself in a new culture. Moving back to the states to finish out my degree in Business Marketing at the University of Wisconsin Stout, the artist within did not yield. In May of 2005 I published my first book of poetry entitled, “Landscape of a Soul.” Realizing poetry is a niche market I set out on a five month tour self promoting the book. Every weekend was spent playing live shows promoting both the book and my music. The next step was to record a live demo. Recording in a small basement studio, the first tracks were enough to set a fire within and I knew this is what I was meant to do.

Born and raised in Southern Minnesota, I moved to Nashville in June of 2007 to begin recording my first CD with producer Clyde Brooks. The album features musicians; Chris Leuzinger, Kenny Greenberg, Chad Cromwell, Michael Rhodes, Tony Harrell, and some of the best behind the scene; Engineers David Hall and Mark Lambert, and Mastering Engineer Benny Quinn. Constantly striving to better myself, working with talent at this level has made me a stronger artist. I continue to actively pursue my career by playing shows at some premier artist/writer venues such as The Listening Room, Bluebird Café, and Blue Bar in downtown Nashville. The growing impact of the internet has also provided a key promotional avenue. Featured on my Myspace page (myspace.com/haleyrossow) are the first three songs completed which were all written by me and recorded here in Nashville.

To simply write a great song is fulfilling, but as an artist there is a demanding need to open yourself to vulnerability and allow your art to be heard. The first time I felt a connection with a complete stranger was at a live show. That thread binding is the true beauty found in music.
