In the early 90's, one of the biggest selling hip-hop tracks of all time proclaimed; California knows how to party. Today, perhaps no MC understands this better than Los Angeles hip-hop artist, producer & entrepreneur, Angelo Knox. With a laid back delivery & chilled out persona, Knox first came to light as a emcee in California's thriving hip-hop scene. Angelo had begun by producing his own tracks in a self-built studio hidden in a vacant Financial District building. Angelo has also broken from the rap fold's norm of samples & programmed parts with his use of live instrumentation, both in & outside the recording studio. After producing tracks, I felt I needed to go live to get the freshness on the track, & on stage, forget about it, the stuff drops with way more intensity. Angelo Knox party-borne groove provides a refreshing alternative to the glut of played-out posturing & uninspired tracks that comprise the sound of many of his contemporaries.
