For years, the NJ Hip-Hop sound has been one of the most over looked in the industry to date. Gregg "G.S."
Brown and Matthew "Money Grip" Sherrod are looking to change that. The two former front men of one of NJ's
biggest independent movements "The Union" have now combined to establish a company/label of their own "G5
Entertainment". G.S. a native of Jersey City, NJ and Money Grip native of Edison, NJ are no strangers to the game.
As part of The Union, the two were key contributors to the label's successful independent release "Hard Labor".
Combining top notched lyricism with precisely picked production and a refreshing witty and at times humorous out
look on a variety of subjects, G5 Entertainment is not only looking to bring their home state some much deserved
respect and attention, but also to put the entire hip-hop world on notice. "G5 Is The Future!"
G5 Entertainment's first official mixtape "G5 Presents: "Welcome Aboard" was released in June 2010 and
has been generally well received throughout the East Coast. The CD contains 15 (mostly originally produced)
tracks and features some of the "extended family" members of the G5 network. G.S. & Money Grip while
functioning as artist under their own label must also function and think as CEO's of their own label as well.
This includes everything from writing and getting together production for upcoming projects they have planned
to release, as well as listening to and evaluating new artist and producers to work with and possibly sign to
G5 Entertainment. In an effort to expand on their local fan base, G5 Ent. along with BlockStar Ent.
have currently been working out of Atlanta, GA making guest appearances and doing collaborations with some of
the South's hottest up and coming artist and producers.
As it stands, on paper the roster for G5 Ent. is relatively small, but that's largely by design at this point.
Grip known for his bravado, trademark rapid-fire flow, and crisp delivery offers stark contrast to the laid back,
smooth, conversation like flow and wordplay of G.S. When asked about the G5 roster scenario G.S. offers a simple
explanation "Me an Grip can manage our own expectations but we can't manage those of others at this point…it's
a process an we're gonna grow at our own pace."
The immediate goal for the two entrepreneurs is simple. Establish G5 Entertainment as a formidable and
competitive record company first, allowing them to spread their sound and message to the masses, and to introduce
the G5 "brand" and essentially allowing them to branch off into other areas of entertainment such as TV/videos,
movies/film, and books. Dedication to their dreams, believing in themselves and their work, being fully aware of
the obstacles ahead, and an unparalleled work ethic assures the duo they will accomplish their goals. If you are not
