A journey!



GROUP AVALON is composed of two brothers who are of Swedish and Congolese origin.



Coming from a great musical family, music and dance has always been omnipresent in their life.

Influenced on one hand by the Congolese music, and on the other hand, by music broadcast on radios and televisions nowadays, Avalon has a multicultural musical influence and proudly shows it in their music.



Djo, the oldest of the brothers is very quickly passionate in music, in particular hip hop. He starts to write Rap texts at a very young age and forms hip-hop groups everywhere he lives.

Mohombi, on the other hand has a passion for song. He pursues his studies and receives his bachelor's degree in music and song from the Music Conservatory in Stockholm.



Group Avalon really makes the world move!



In December 2004 the first album makes its appearance, "Excalibur", including the singles "Le Monde Bouge" awarded for (Best Diaspora Europe- Caribbean act at the KORA- All African Music Awards 2003) and "Mama Africa" nominated (Best Diaspora Europe- Caribbean act at the KORA- All African Music Awards 2004).



With a sale of nearly 500 000 specimens the group affirms its presence as one of the most promising African groups and its Diaspora. .



Avalon has preformed alongside famous artists such as, Ludacris, Angie Stone, Miriam Makeba, Genuwine, Montel Jordan, Musiq Soulchild, The Game as well as great figures of African Music such as Salif Keita, Werra son, 2FACE, Thandiswa Mazwai, Koffi Olomide, Fally Ipupa…



Thanks to their Song "Big Up", Group Avalon has entered the big league in Scandinavia. The single is a success and the Compilation reaches triple platinum.



A single in August 2005, a version of "Pata pata" is launched, for the honour of the African “icon” Miriame Makeba. The song is well received by the author and is frequently diffused on European and African radio stations. The Swedish public discovers and appreciates the African musical universe presented by Avalon. All this allowed, in June 2006, to make Sweden discover the renowned African group "Magic System", as the latter performed in collaboration with Group Avalon.



Afro-Viking



2008/2009, Avalon launches their second album entitled "Afro-Viking" in collaboration with several artists such as Muhammad Lamine (Algeria) and Million styles (Sweden).

With the first single “Rotation ", Avalon creates a new genre they call “Afro-Viking”, a Fusion between Afro and dance music. Rotation" is written together with songwriter Tony Sad (Belgium) and produced by Silveroom (Sweden). The songs becomes a smash hit and permits Avalon, now for the third time to once again be nominated at the Kora All African Music Awards, this time in the category Best African Artist or group.



The second single "Fukama" is a featuring with the Swedish Reggae/Dancehall Superstar Million Stylez, another fusion of different music styles coming together in a way you’ve never heard before.



Fights for peace



Group Avalon is at the head of the foundation "Youth for Peace". The Foundation organize music Festivals in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2004. The main objective is to give a message of peace and joy of living to the youth. All funds gathered in these festivals go to supporting cultural and youth actions in the region.
