Grimis

Andy Doherty, Pete Michelinie, David Tanklefsky and Lyle Brewer are Grimis. They are four elementary and middle school friends who grew up playing music together in Massachusetts and have been touring, making records and making friends since circa 2001. The band has released three records, the most recent being their eponymous 2008 offering. They have played hundreds of shows and have an affinity for long road trips, friends and cool sunglasses. In September 2010 the band completed another successful run of shows through the northeast U.S. and is currently planning a trip to Kenya for late October to help produce a record by children at the Margaret Okari School in the village of Kissi, Kenya. The band's members are involved in a number of various projects. Brewer is the lead guitarist for Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles. Doherty played bass in a number of Portland, Ore.-based bands including Quiet Life and Cowboy Ninja Bear and a number of other local artists as well as playing the occasional solo show. Michelinie builds furniture and climbs mountains for long stretches at a time. Tanklefsky performs as a solo artist and with friends under the name "Tanklefsky" and plays guitar in Brooklyn-based Emil & Friends.
