Shiner: "Only Shallow"

From album: V/A: Soak Your Shoes In Red Wine & Strike The Angles Dumb

I heard Shiner do this amazing My Bloody Valentine cover on one of their last tours as a band. I was floored by it and begged them to let me have it for this compilation. Shiner is one of my all time favorites; I have seen them a dozen times and we have become good friends over the years. Alan was nice enough to crack the whip, get the band to record it and let GTA have it. The song has yet to be released anywhere else and is one of 19 amazing songs available on GTA-016, released in 2002. For a complete tracklisting, check the GTA website.

Hey Mercedes: "Roulette Systems"

From album: Unorchestrated

This is the final Hey Mercedes track ever recorded by the band. It was written and recorded in the middle of tour in a whirlwind-fuss just in time to make a deadline for a comp Vagrant was to release. Who knew it would be the swan-song? It is compiled on this EP with "Warm Chords" (another hard to find track), two great Loses Control unreleased demos, and a live version of the title track 'Unorchestrated'. Released in 2005 as GTA-019.

The City On Film: "Trials"

From album: In Formal Introduction

The City On Film is the current project of Bob Nanna formerly of Hey Mercedes and Braid. Trials was the song that really grew on me during the recording process, maybe it was the warm Nashville weather or perhaps sleeping on the floor of a studio and doing nothing but tracking for six days? Regardless, it holds up and remains one of my favorites from In Formal Introduction. I love the bridge into the ending, so nice. Listen close rockers, there in no electric guitar on this song. Believe it. The vinyl version is limited to 1000 and still available. CD and LP released as GTA-020 summer of 2005.

Wayne Everett: "A Million Leaves"

From album: KingsQueens

Its no secret GTA loves The Lassie Foundation so we jumped at the chance to release the vinyl version of singer Wayne Everett's debut solo album (CD released on Northern Records). A Million Leaves is the lead track and sums up the album as a whole; unique beautiful breezy AM inspired pop bliss. LP was released in a limited edition run of 500 on white vinyl with full color labels. Released in 2003 as GTA-017.
