Vulfpeck - Dean Town, from the album The Beautiful Game (Released Oct 17th, 2016)

It's been less than a week since the new Vulfpeck album as been released, and I've been really digging it. After listening through a couple times, I wondered if I was capable of playing the bass parts, and decided to challenge my ear (and my technique!).

I learned this song entirely by ear, not just note for note, but with the goal of even having many of the inflections and nuances.
After seeing the official Dean Town video, I noticed that I used the open A string instead of the 5th fret quite a bit, among other things....

Most of the time when I'm learning songs, my first focus is on the right groove/feel, while my own melodic variations interject 'freely' from the original bass lines. But I really had a great time learning this song to the level of detail I did!

The original audio is panned slightly to the left, and my bass audio is panned slightly to the right. I also intentionally made the bass tone different from the original to show some distinction and separation. Ended up with a neat 'chorus' effect!
