GOD WILL PUNISH is a rock band based out of southwest Riverside County California.

After forming in early 2004, the band rehearsed for a solid 4 months before going into a studio to record a 4 song Demo. Releasing 300+ copies all hand made themselves at shows and other means; the band hit the local scene playing various venues and places all throughout Southern-California and spreading. Their name quickly caught on with bands and people who enjoy and support the underground scene, and great music.

Only after a year of making a name for them selves, God Will Punish was asked to showcase for two different record labels. The band was praised for their music ability, but unfortunately was refused due to different beliefs, and not willing to bend on being a Christian band. After such an event, the band became more encouraged to get out and try to grab the attention of possible labels and/or management who are willing to work with the band in a respectable manner.

In 2005, "GWP" hit the studio again only to record a full length LP entitled "Compositions from unworthy souls". Recorded by long time friend Noah Loveridge (who has worked with many bands, including FIFTH, and Nynth Hour), and mastered by Thomas Chan (Amalgamated Sound and Picture, and The Naked Trucker Show). The band toured briefly on the extreme tour in 2005 before releasing their record to the vernacular.

After many shows and brief tours the band returned to the studio with a new drummer Moises Estrada, and recorded their sophmore release, "CHEST PAINS". The album was released again on their own in 2007. Feeling as if they finally found their niche in music, their main goal for this album was not only to grab the attention of potential management/labels, but more importantly get their name out to more people and promote who they are and what their message is.

Early 2009, the band decided to get back into the studio and work towards another record. With goals set in front of them and much prayer, they recorded their soon to be released follow up "the invisible war" with producer and engineer Scott Leavenworth. The band did a minor northwest tour in summer of 2009, and later released the album to ONLINE purchase only. Currently the album can be purchased on iTunes, Napster, and Rhapsody.

God Will Punish's members are all Christians, simply wanting to show the truth that has changed their lives. Just as many of the Straight-Edge bands used the hardcore scene to educate people, so God Will Punish strives to do the same. They are hoping to prove that true Christianity doesn't consist of the negative stereotypes of the “money-hungry” Tele-evangelists or a condemning fool, but to show love and to educate people of a lord and savior who loves them and how to seek a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. God Will Punish will never discriminate due to differing opinions.

The "God Will Punish" name is taken (paraphrased) from the bible.

REVELATION 20:10 – And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

(NIV)

The band name may seem controversial to some Christians, but it is designed to grab the attention of non-Christians, and Christians as well. To a Christian we hope it imposes the constant reminder that God is in control and that the enemy who is trying to bring you down will be dealt with. To the non-Christian, we hope it imposes some kind of self-realization, and analyses of ones own life. If nothing else, the name gets most to search out what the name means by approaching the band as a conversation starter, or (get some to open the bible and check the verse themselves) which then can potentially lead to a relationship with the band, and eventually to God.

In February of 2010 the band decided to go on "indefinite hiatus". All members felt as if God was closing the door on the GWP project, and felt as if God allowed it for the band to reunite they will start it up at that point if ever. The band played many shows, several tours, and released 3 albums. (The latter two are available online (ie:iTunes).
