Some press for 'With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea':

"Press releases rarely get it right (One Night Only are "Britain's hottest new band" apparently) but the advice accompanying Leeds duo Glissando's second outing that it "should be listened to at night" couldn't be closer to the truth. Highlight 'Floods' for example, a 14 minute ambient epic of dark piano keys, haunting strings and resonating chants, is no summer jam. It does, however, have the kind of atmosphere that can captivate and relax in equal measure- never before has tranquility sounded so urgent. While track lengths of over 10 minutes may fail to hold the attention of the ADHD sufferers among us, with patience it plays like a majestic dream. And it's one you'll never want to wake up from."

NME 7/10

"This record completely took me over for the whole 70 minutes. I was hanging on every chord waiting for their next move."

Comfort Comes 9/10

"Low meets Mogwai, only with fragments of Regina Spektor at her most restrained. Exceptional."

RockFood 5/5

"the more sedate moments culled from Set Fire to Flames back catalogue are an underlying influence as are both the measured and mercurial montages cast into the public eye by early career Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black Emperor".

Losing Today

"an album full of grace and beauty and one that is easy to recommend".

Blues Bunny - album of the month 5/5

"It's sad and it's beautiful and it cracks your heart like a rock"

Sandman Magazine

"The shiver of loneliness, so close to oblivion in the passion for another is old, true and made chilling all over again. Ultimately, pain, blindness and death are offered. And, as so often before, they seem unreasonably comforting."

Whisperin and Hollerin 7/10

"By turns achingly beautiful and curiously powerful, it’s very much an album to be savoured, allowing its quiet pleasures to envelop you, rather than expecting it to give up all its secrets in one go."

Audioscribbler

"a very moving record"

Leonards Lair

"an ethereal piece of work perhaps best suited for nighttime listening."

Subba Cultcha

"Their refusal to stick to one style, their excellent compositional poise and most importantly their passion – every ounce of heart and soul has been poured into this release. Their deliberate sound is rather fitting, given the fact that their name is derived from an Italian musical term describing a slow-shifting musical pitch. They allow their music to progress in such a low-key manner that when they do explode, the pay-offs are just that extra bit heart-warming." Angry Ape

"I often struggle to comprehend how reviewers can mark an album with a “perfect” score, as music is a notoriously subjective medium, and cannot be perfect to all. But I can’t really pick holes in what’s on offer here – if you like instrumental music, or any bands from the (still horribly-titled) post-rock genre then you are going to fall in love with this effort."
