After I started smoking cannabis in '98, my music totally changed. I went from writing angry/heavy music my whole life (RESISTANCE and BLACKENED KILL SYMPHONY) to composing deep/emotional material, and adding a female vocalist just seemed natural to me at the time. Face Down was something I started in 2000 with vocalist Gina Boccadisi.

All 4 of these tracks Gina and I laid down on a little crappy recorder just for song writing and brainstorming purposes. None of this material was supposed to be officially released until we had the songs mastered and re recorded with a full band in a legit studio.

I wanted to write 14 songs without a full band, I usually hate collaborating with other musicians, then once the music was all written, we could audition a bass player, a drummer and perhaps another guitar player so that we can go into a serious studio and record an album.

But I couldn't handle Gina's personal issues, I hung on for as long as I could, but I left the project after we finished our 11th song. We never got to the "auditioning band members" part. Maybe one day I'll get into the details of the insane relationship between Gina and I, but all I'm going to say right now is that there is no one like Gina on this planet, she can out party anyone I ever knew, she knew no limits, and that's all I'm going to say about that right now.

But I loved the music I wrote so much during my stint with Face Down, that I decided to go back to my Blackened Kill Symphony roots and remix most of those songs into hip hop/metal/goth, which is what you can hear at www.myspace.com/thetwister. I'm using this incredible rapper who calls himself Compella and it sounds fucking amazing. Check it out and see for yourself. The project is called "compella and the twister" and a full length cd should be out sometime during the spring of 2007.

So if you can listen to these poorly produced demos without listening to the production value, and just focus on the hooks and melodies, you will hear the magic Gina and I created, enjoy.

UPDATE 11-28-06:

Even though 'compella and the twister' are stronger than ever, I am also in the process of putting together another female alternative rock project. Currently compella and I are in negotiations with an indie label here on the west coast after "dropped" got nominated for "hip hop single of the year" by the Los Angeles International Music Awards last month. There is no doubt in my mind that we are about to blow up. But I still want to finish what Gina and I in Face Down started back in 2000, so after almost giving up, I finallly found Miranda. She is an amazing singer with incredible tone, soul AND technique. I can't tell you how perfect our songwriting chemistry is, you'll just have to listen for yourself. We are called Temple of Mir and we have 4 songs so far and they are coming out with unbelievable hooks and melodies. I just put this myspace page together so it's a very bare but our first single is up, "falling under". If you were into what Face Down was putting out, you're gonna love this. thanks! eddie :) Temple of Mir MySpace Page
