Gifts for Sophia

THE BAND HAS DECIDED TO CALL IT QUITS.Gifts for Sophia is a band hailing from Butler, Pennsylvania - an area that mixes every class as well as culture just north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Blending and bending genres ranging from indie, funk, hardcore, and almost everything else under the sun, the band's sound reflects it's environment. Established in early 2006, the band is comprised of three very unique members: Brian Campbell, Christian Stivason, and Jordan Gibson.



Brian Campbell (17) is lead vocalist and a guitarist of the band. His heartfelt lyrics and melodies are pleasant to the ear as well as thought provoking. Brian's lyrics are creative and unique to say the very least. In a time where most singers/songwriters are one-dimensional and vocally beat a dead horse, Brian can and will surprise you with every new song he writes. Brian, like previously mentioned, also plays guitar in the group. Brian's guitar playing is filled with emotion, sometimes too much emotion because he tends to break a lot of strings. Brian's no slouch though, he's been playing guitar for a good part of his life and is just as talented lyrically and vocally as he is with the instrument.



Christian Stivason (17), better known as "Stive", is the bassist of the group. Stive is one of the most talented and diverse bassists you'll find today. His rhythmic finger picking and funky slap and popping give the songs an extra touch of groove. Stive's bass playing is a breath of fresh air compared to other bassists who hardly contribute to the overall sound and basically stand in the shadows.



Jordan Gibson (16), better known as "Gib" or "Gibby" (the band is just full of nicknames, right?), is the drummer and the heartbeat of Gifts for Sophia. Without his style, the band's sound would hardly be expressed the same way. Gib has been playing drums for a better part of his life (his father having been a drummer). Gib is also no boring drummer to watch. Set him behind a drum set and he alone will put on a show for you (think: the Tazmanian Devil).



Collectively, Gifts for Sophia is a group of multiple personalities with one common goal: to make good and listenable music that is far different from anything or anyone else out there at the moment. The band is very dedicated and serious about performing. We're always interested in shows and are looking to do more outside of Butler.
