SO MESSY.

In 2001, Gemma took her music career to another level, by joing Middlerow and releasing her first proper release SO MESSY, which was a big tune at the time. It was play listed on 1xtra and was constantly on pirate radio. So Messy sold over 5000 units in a time where people claimed the death of UKG, yeah right!!

GEMMA GETS RECORD DEAL WITH POLYDOR RECORDS 2002

Because of the sucess of So Messy and with a demo album under her wing, she was offered a 6 figure deal, by several labels, but decided to sign up to Polydor.

In 2002 till 2003, Gemma started recording for her debut album which also was entitled Messy, for obvious reasons.

Gemma recorded with The Hoodrats, Chucky Thompson, Jonny Douglas, Midi Mafia, Punch, and Rob Ref Tulow.

She travelled across the world to meet and greet different producers such as Rapheal Sadiq, Dj Premire and Guru, plus many more.

After deciding the lineup for her debut, Gemma went on to record her tracks with fellow artists, J2K, Rodney P, Jim Jones, MC Lyte, Julez Santana and Biz Markie.

GEMMA GOES MAINSTREAM

Girlfriends Story, featuring MC Lyte, was Gemma's first release in the UK, and was greatly recieved. With playlists on Kiss FM, Choice FM, BBC 1xtra, Galaxy FM, MTV Base and most music channels.

Girlfriends Story was about domestic violence, and because of the song content, Gemma was approached by Womens Aid to become a patron of their Charity. Gemma still does work with Nottingham DV.

The album Messy, was given 5 star rating by most music magazines, ie Hip Hop Conection, Dj, Touch, and RWD to name but a few. (see magazines sections) and was ranked number 10 in the offical BBC chart.

Gemma also performed on, MTV's Brand Spanking New, along with J2K and Rodney P, which went a storm. The event was hosted by Trevor Nelson and Alesha Dixon.

Gemma and featured artist, J2K and Radio 1 DJ Ras Kwame, then went on a 6 week UK Tour, performing tracks off her debut album "Messy".

Gemma's next release was to be "Gone" featuring Juelz Santana, but for reasons, beyond her control, Gone was never a release. However, She did shoot a video with the J2K version, which also got massive support by Trevor Nelson, radio 1 etc.

Gemma performed in Ibiza in 2004 for the Galaxy FM live broadcast plus another time with Puff Daddy. She has also performed in Greece, alongside Rodney P and DJ Samari. Gemma also has performed in places like Denmark and Ireland.

GEMMA FOX LEAVES POLYDOR

After deep consideration Gemma decides to leave her record label as she feels the communication between both parties had broken down, and was not working well for both parties.

In the same year, Gemma featured in a few videos including the FHM Single release with fellow artists Liberty X, Atomic Kitten, Naomi Campbell, Jodie Marsh, the girls from Coronation Street and model Sophie Anderton, all in aid of the Breast Cancer fund. She also features in 2nice Gangsta No Fire Camp No, and a few others.

Since then, Gemma has been working on various different projects, including a track called "Charge" produced by Statik, of which Gemma featured on his album "Connections" released late 2005. The tracks were "Cheat On You" Feat Tears, "Groupie" featuring Lethal Bizzle, Crazy Titch, Lady Sovereign and others.

Gemma has also worked with a lot of UK producers and releases with the likes of Paleface ("Messy" and "Boxers", Wonder 'Wonderland", Fire camp "Against The World", Davinche "Gone Remix", Silky "Girlfriend Remix", Menta "Girlfriend Remix", Youngsta "Messy", Dexplicit "Might Be", Delinquents "Gone 44 mix" "Boxers Remix"), Flukes "Boxers Remix", J-Sweet and Cameo "Girlfriend 44 Remix", Terror Danjah "Let Feelings Grow" & "Think I'm in Love", Dready "2010 RIDDIM", LUC album's 1 & 2 plus many more.

Gemma also recorded a track called "Girls Gotta Do" feat Camilla and Fury, for the Soundtrack for UK movie 'Rollin' With The Nines", which also appears in the movie. Gemma also featured on "Booty Call" compilation in Greece and mixtape's "Wonder Of The World" and the "Juelz Santana:Dice With Life" which includes the feature he did on Gemma's second release "Gone" in US, plus various different mixtapes in the UK.

Besides her own music, Gemma has also been writing for other successful acts in and around Europe.

THE SET UP OF 'FOX ENTERTAINMENTS'

After her experience, Gemma decided to open her own record label, office and agency, give Gemma creative control but also able to build projects with not only her own music but also giving others the chance to showcase their music.

Gemma's first independent release was massive club anthem "Might Be" produced by heavyweight producer Dexplicit which then lead to Gemma being playlisted on BBC'S 1Xtra and topping their top ten chart staying their for over 12 weeks. With the high demand, this lead to Gemma's tour where she performed medleys on her hits. Underground, Fox Entertainments then released tracks such as "Crazy Crush" remixed by TS7, "The One" remixed by Burga Boy and "Numbers". The tracks also appeared on various garage/bassline compilation's such as "The Sound Of Bassline", "DJ Cameo presents: Bassline", "The Sound Of The Pirates", "The Sound Of Bassline 2", "Pure Bassline: Mixed by DJ EZ" and many more.

THE FUTURE

Currently, Gemma is recording her long awaited second album and is due to fly to the U.S. to work with some major heavy weight producers. The album will be a mixture and showcase of both U.K. and U.S. sounds. Keep it locked here for exclusive information on our girl, Gemma Fox, repping the UK Hard!!!
