Gazi Peker

The Danish-Kurdish-Turkish musician Gazi Peker is again current with a digital album, "Kurdish requiem".

The album contains classic Kurdish folk songs that have been sung for generations, especially of women gathered to funerals when they lose some of their male family members.

Gazi Peker originates from Bulduk, Konya in Central Turkey. He released his debut CD in 2008 with the name "Kismet". One of the songs from Kismet was nominated by World Music Denmark in 2009, as the Track of the Year. Kismet is produced as a soundtrack album for a screen play by the same name. It’s a one-man project, involving guest musicians such as Sivan Perwer, John Villadsen, Aynur Peker, Sven Pors, Tara P. Kramhøft and others. He has worked as a DJ for almost 30 years throughout Denmark and abroad.

Gazi Peker is today one of Denmark's busiest DJ's playing ethnic and lounge, house and dance music.
