Gaz Donning

Qualified sound engineer, DJ and producer Gaz Donning hails from the Lake District, UK, and has been involved in the music industry since 2000. With strong links with his home circuit Gaz now lives in Manchester where he moved to study a degree in Audio Engineering. From this post-industrial, post-haçienda musical melting pot, his first project; club night Method was created with fellow DJ Stealth1. Gaining an immediate following within Manchester’s competitive underground music scene which led to invitations to play at nights across the country. Mid 2007 Method was asked to host the bar at the world famous sankeys soap for well long running Manchester based club night Smugglers Run, playing on the same bill as underground pioneers tiefschwarz.



Late summer 2007, Gaz Donning became the chief architect of monthly party Lean. Lean became an underground outpost and must-stop for the finest minimal and techno artists from all over the world. and featured such artists as Gurtz, Bigger thans Jesus and Fabio Giannelli. Coming to an end mid 2008 with a full-on farewell from special guest and underground pioneer Jeff Samuel, leaving Gaz with a large and loyal following and residencies with two of the UK’s leading techno nights Krucht (Leeds & Manchester) and SUCIO RITMO resulting in main room sets at Sankeys warming up for such artists as ex Radio one DJ Fergie and German Techno duo Alter Ego.
Finishing his Degree in 2009 with a high 2:1, Gaz is now working on his own productions and has developed strong collaborative relationship with engineer Phil Caine aka Mindform, PJC Project and one half of Caine and Anians. Their first release came out on Mad Hatter Recordings in May 2009 entitled The Craughan ep, a three track techno stomper.
The duo have a released a number of original tracks and remixed various artists including Rebekah Teesdale, Rosie Romero and D'Funk releasing on Labels such as Mad Hatter Recordings, Simplex, Manchester Underground Music (MUM) and Elektek Recordings. There Minimal remix of andrea giuliani & Luca Rossetti's "Dicky moe" released on Simplex records, reached number 68 Beatports Minimal charts early 2010.
Along side local DJ and producer Craig Kirkby, The team also offer a professional recording, engineering and tutorial services. with qualified engineers at hand Mad Hatter Muzik is situated in the amazing surrounds of the Lake district working in association with fire house studios. Mainly used for the engineering and recording of Bands/musicians and electronic music, The studio is also equipped for mastering purposes and is fastly gaining the recognition as one of the must stop studios for DJ's and producers alike, with many professional artists currently working with our engineers within this professional environment.



With regular apperances at Sankeys for much loved Techno night Colour, Gaz's latest project "Untold Motion" was lanched early 2010 with Danish artist Martinez on top of the bill. A collaboration between Gaz and Ben Marsden AKA Enlukaa, Untold Motion is a fresh and exciting night showcasing some of the worlds finest unseen house and Techno artists.
