The story of G98 begins in the mid nineties (90s) when a guy called Hilder Brando arrives to Medellín from Venezuela in order to study in the “Minuto de Dios” school, there he joined to a group of young artists in the acting & performing field, the result was a show called “Que bueno es vivir” which combined the painting and the theater with the live music performance: Blues, Funk and Rock n Roll music were the basis of the project. Right after the theater show was done, the musicians decided to continue with the project, this time, headed by Hilder B.
In the other hand, these guys Andrés Guerrero and Jesús David Llano met each other when they were studying at the “San José de La Salle” school and decided to play some classical music as the result of a school project, Guerrero on guitar and Llano on piano. Late in 1998 Guerrero joined to Hilders project then called “G98” as the lead guitar, and so they began to make some “home-made” recordings; one of these records was a demo tape called “Y Despues Que?”(1998), the demo was both musically aggressive and experimental. Afterward Brando and Guerrero got involved with the producing world releasing “Motivo Quimbaya” (2000), that was recorded in 4 tracks. This record helped the band to be known in the country and by the time the started to play live shows they met with Llano and then, in 2004 they release their first album called “Supernova” (2004), a name they also used to start with a label project; producing other musicians and bands. The singles “Duplicado”, “Supernova” and “Esta noche” started to sound on the radio all around the country.
Then in 2006 they began to produce songs for the local media like Veracruz Radio , Musinet TV and Many more. Besides they worked with the ring tones industry and recording singles for recognized bands all around the country as an outsource for a record label called Discos Fuentes. During the next two years the band produced their major album “Genera Satisfacción” (2008), This production reflects that the Funk, Disco, Acid Jazz and Hip Hop music are the ingredients for their sound which expresses the day by day experiences for the members. Basically, the goal of the band through their music and lyrics is what they call “an inner self escape from the reality”, “an invitation to a new world, a new state, a new planet, a new dimension” And the Funk is the key to reach such places. “Genera Satisfacción” is fully loaded with the energy that distinguish the group from the early beginnings. Now they are preparing their promotional video from their first single: “Porno funk” which will be done this year.
La historia de g98 comienza a principios de el año 1996 cuando Hílder Brando llega a Medellín Colombia procedente de Venezuela a estudiar en el colegio minuto de de dios. Integrándose a un grupo de jóvenes artistas en el campo de la actuación y la música con una obra llamada que bueno es vivir que combinaba la pintura y el teatro con la música en vivo, el funk el blues y rock eran la mezcla para ese entonces. Luego de terminada la obra teatro los músicos encabezados por Hílder deciden seguir con el proyecto, por otro lado, Andrés guerrero conoce a Jesús David llano en el colegio san José de La Salle y empiezan a tocar juntos en el proyecto colegial de música clásica Andrés en la guitarra y Jesús en el piano. Mas tarde en 1998 Andrés se integra a la banda como guitarrista lidera si empieza una serie de producciones caseras llamadas “Y DESPUES QUE “1998, ya con un sonido mas agresivo, luego Hílder y Andrés se involucran en el mundo de la producción grabando “Motivo Quimbaya” 2000 totalmente grabado en 4 track y que ayuda a la banda a ser reconocida en el ámbito nacional. Tras una serie de conciertos en el país Jesús David llana se integra a la banda y publican su primer álbum “SUPERNOVA” 2004 álbum que le da nombre a su propio sello donde empiezan a producir otras bandas y artistas a la ves que los sencillos "Duplicado”, "Supernova" y "Esta Noche", suenan en las principales emisoras de la ciudad y el país. Luego en el 2006 empiezan a producir una serie de canciones para los medios de comunicación tales como Veracruz Radio, Musiten entere otros y a la par que se dedican a trabajar con la industria de los ring tones, la grabación de sencillos para bandas importantes de el país y como outsorcing de la Disquera nacional. Discos fuentes durante 2 años y medio producen “GENERA SATISFACTION”2008 Que utiliza el funk, disco, asid jazz y el hip-hop como ingredientes para su sonido particular que trata de reflejar las vivencias urbanas de sus integrantes. Básicamente lo que propone G98 con su música y con sus letras es un escape de la realidad, una invitación a un nuevo mundo, otro estado, otra planeta, otra dimensión, un lugar para vivir cada día, con estas características propias del lugar, tanto de sensaciones como de formas. Para llegar a este lugar se necesita estar arriba, se necesita subir, el medio para llegar a esta estación es el funk. "Genera Satisfaction" viene cargado de mucha energía, que a caracterizado a la banda desde el comienzo. Actualmente se encuentran en el rodaje del primer sencillo “porno funk” que se espera tener listo para finales de este año.
