Lang geleden hoorde ik Tom Browne's "Funkin` for Jamaica" en was meteen "hooked". Vanaf die dag ging ik bas spelen en ben niet meer van de funk afgekicked! Tot 2002 heb ik in Brabant in allerlei bands gespeeld: Big Band Den Bosch (swing: jazz/blues), Etcetera (funk-rock, like Mother's Finest), SPIV (rock/pop-covers), Big P's (jazz / acid jazz) and Def Real (hip hop & funk).



Vanaf januari 2002 tot en met augustus 2007 heb ik in Engeland gewoond en daar in de volgende bands gespeeld:

Sanchez (Old Skool Funk)



Blue Fuse (Jazz/Funk)

Draait het dan allemaal om Funk? Ja, grotendeels wel maar ik maak ook graag uitstapjes naar Jazz, Latin, Hip Hop en Blues en ik vind het te gek om stijlen te mixen.

It was that fat bassline in Tom Browne's "Funkin` for Jamaica" that did it. After listening to this funkin` tune I decided that all I wanted to do is to play bass. This must have been around my 16th birthday. From that moment the bass addiction only got worse, but also more pleasant.



I've played in a variety of bands and played different styles of music. The bands I've played in are Big Band Den Bosch (swing: jazz/blues), Etcetera (funk-rock, like Mother's Finest), SPIV (rock/pop-covers), Big P's (jazz / acid jazz) and Def Real (pioneers of hip hop & funk in Holland. Sadly the band stopped gigging and recording). You don't know any of those bands? Very possible, because those bands are all, like me, from Holland!

It is all about funk? Pretty much, but I like to cross musical borders on a regular basis. Latin, Jazz and Blues are my favourites. My gear? I'm proud owner of a vintage 1978 Fender Jazz bass and I use a SWR top, two SWR 2 x 10" and a SWR 15" cab.
