DESCRIPTION:
There are times when music is truly transcendent. I wish I was able to say that every note ever performed could be described this way but as you know, sometimes the meaning of a composition or performance is lost (or is not appreciated for one reason or another).

Recently, I had an experience that I will take with me the rest of my life. This was not about getting every note in exactly the right place - in some vain attempt to be absolutely perfect. No, this was an event by and for a community that is grieving the loss of one of their own. We came together to share in that grief and to help ease that pain and I would like to share the performance with you.

As with any Requiem, this has been a very emotional project. I am honored to have been a part (however large or small) of the healing process. We came together to express our grief and to find catharsis through music, as one community. As Nathan Cohen said before the performance, "We begin in a place of darkness and travel to a lighter place, together."
