It all began in Pete Huster’s basement in Belleville, Illinois during the summer of 2001.Pete and Don Davinroy were introduced through mutual friends and they both had the interest to pursue getting involved in a metal band. Pete, having played bass in an alternative punk rock band called Rochelle and shortly after playing bass for a hippie jam band called Madam Sky, was looking for more. Pete had now moved back to electric guitar and began writing riffs and musical ideas…music with raw true energy about the chaos and facts of everyday life. Don and Pete got together over tea and crumpets one night and decided to start such a band with such ideas in mind.

They tried out a few drummers, but none had sufficed until Derek Bonn came along. Derek had heard through mutual friends that Don and Pete were getting together to jam. The three clicked very well. The three then seeked out a bass player to complete the foursome. Pete’s cousin Shane McMahon crept in for the job. Shane had previously been in two other metal bands. Pete began to put his riffs into play. Don and Pete had constructed five songs. such as Man is a Beast, Join The Circus, Delayed Reaction, just to name a few. Once they had several original songs including a few covers, with the lineup of Pete on guitar and backup vocals, Don Davs on vocals, Derek Bonn on drums and Shane McMahon on bass, they debuted at Shenanigans in Belleville, Illinois, during which the front door was ripped off of the hinges.

Freak Accident began playing shows throughout the Midwest. And then in the summer of 2004, Shane McMahon departed to pursue other metal musical interests. They tried out a few bass players. Chris Kittel (C.K), Pete’s half-brother stepped in for the job. With more songs in their arsenal, Freak Accident began to take on a life of its own. In the summer of 2005 the Freak headed into Jupiter Studios in St. Louis, MO to began recording their first three-song demo, which was to become their first full-length album titled “Accidents Happen”. And then The Accident came to a screeching halt with the inevitable departure of Derek in 2007, who went on to pursue other musical conquests.

Replacing one of the best drummers in the St Louis area was not to be an easy task. After auditioning several drummers, Pete found Derrick McMillan on Craigslist among all places. Don made the call and a week later they had their first encounter. Derrick instantly bonded on a musical and personal level with Pete and Don. Derrick was in! C.K will never bond with anyone because he is in some other world of his own.

Freak Accident has since reached new heights of musical creativity! They have become tighter than ever and are writing the best music they’ve written to date. With full-fledged, balls-out live performances; Freak Accident has raised the bar in the Midwest metal music scene and beyond! If you haven’t gotten yourself some Freak Accident, we suggest you do it soon!
