Fools Dance

Way back yonder, after Simon Gallup became an ex member of The Cure, he formed a five-piece band consisting of Stuart, Mathieu Hartley, Ian Huller and Tot. Four months later after one disillusioned gig in April ‘83 at Rock Garden, the band was reduced to a 3 piece, with Tot and Ian leaving. Gary was recruited on vocals and a drum machined replaced Tot. The name was changed to Fools Can Dance. Mathieu left in autumn '83, but Ron was brought in on saxophone. They played their first gig in the beginning of October in Bath.



Later that month after the first performance in Bath, Fools Dance suffered under the hammer of a rival paper and were referred to as "Flatly-paced plod". There's absolutely no way music that delicate and multi-dimensional can be viewed with such callous tenseness. It is true; however, that the ex-cure bassist Simon Gallup was determined to expand his musical expertise and originally beyond frivolous comparisons to his career with The Cure. The initiate was even tempted to make “A Birthday Party" comparison.



With a nucleus of Simon, Stuart, Gary and Ron for the following 6 months or so, they had been experimenting with various drummers, but to no avail. It then looked as if the right one had came along in the form of Pete.



Unfortunaly, In Early 1985 Fools Dance Disbanded Due to Bassist Simon Gallup Returning to The Cure.
