ROADS, formerly known as Flicker have been around since 2006. For several years, singer/songwriter Garen Jemian had the project on the back of his mind and it was while singing in a francophone punk band, that he met drummer Iris Campo while auditioning as bassist for her band at the time.
The chemistry between the two was immediate and the creative process was soon underway. They soon auditioned an old friend of Jemian's, now lead guitarist, Alfred Jozikian, to add some dimension to the music. At Alfred's house on that night, an antiquated PC and a modest-looking computer mic were all it took to convince the newly formed trio that they were onto something really special.
“Long lost souls finding each other and sharing this crazy thing called life, together. THAT'S what it's like to be a part of Roads,” says Jemian.
It was all the proof Jemian needed to push forward as he put together a handful of songs and started working on a demo. By May 2007, the self-produced record, "The Great Lament", was completed. In 2008 the band performed at CMW and after much hard work and several showcases for the label, inked a deal with Indica Records.

By February 2009, Scott Moffatt landed in Montreal to produce ROADS’ debut album. Three months is what it took to transform the material from its original fireplace-folk vibe to a more pop-oriented genre.

The trio has since grown into a tight-knit family, having seen each other through their darkest hours. But it’s not always that peaceful in the Roads household…

“Picture, for a second, being a kid again. You’re scrapping it out with your brother in the dirt when your sister jumps on your back and starts pulling on your hair. Then mom brings out the bucket of ice cream and everyone runs for the sugar rush, quickly forgetting about the scrum. Sound familiar? Well, THAT’S Roads! THAT’S how we are together. Personally, I wouldn’t have my best friends any other way,” concludes Jemian.
