As vibrant, moving, and exquisite as a classical symphony, so is Symph, the One Man Orchestra. It is not the music he makes, but whom he is. The perfect moniker for the producer/engineer whose innovative sound will soon capture audiences worldwide. At 19 years old, this new young talent is sure to make plenty of noise in the music industry. Born in Bedstuy, raised in Jamaica Queens, Symph got his love and drive for music way back during his Pre-school years. In listening to old records of classical masterpieces by Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart, he quickly gravitated to classical over any other style or genre of music. "I love classical music so much, because it exploits a wide range of tone, color, and dynamics. It tells a story and paints a picture of the composers emotions." At the age of 9 his mother introduced him to the piano. "I remember my mother telling me she had a dream of a piano. back then being a kid, we tend to believe in things and act on it". Symph began teaching himself how to play, trying to recreate the classics he heard. It wasn't until the age of 12 where he would get a private piano instructor, where he would be classically trained. Over the years he would learn how to play other instruments, such as, the trombone, trumpet, clarinet, and the drums. In coming from a Christian home, father a minister and mother involved in numerous activities in the church, Symph wasn't exposed to "secular" music. "I remember being in school and people would be talking. and I wouldn't know what they were talking about or even who for that matter, I was too busy learning Beethoven." It wasn't until Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life album dropped in '98 before he started to really listening to Hip-Hop and R&B music. "I remember hearing "Ni99a What, Ni99a Who" and just fallin' in love with the way it sounded, not so much the song but the BEAT was crazy." Some of Symph's major influences include producers like Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Scott Storch and Rodney Jerkins. "It wasn't much of a love towards hip-hop itself, at the time, but more for the music." With his newfound love he began experimenting on his keyboard at home. It wasn't too long after that he found himself in Sam Ash, hours at a time, making tracks on a more professional level. As fate would have it, Symph met one of the employees, who was "feelin" his music and drive so much that he wanted to work with him. He later introduced Symph, to his business partner who owned a production company and recording studio. Overtime he opened up his studio to Symph. Symph began to spend countless days and nights just learning all the equipment and making tracks for hours and even days at a time. By the time high school came up, he got accepted to Talent Unlimited, a division of the Julia Richman Complex. He began playing for the Concert Choir, the Concert Band, the Jazz Band, and was offered an opportunity to play for the dance majors. Symph always tended to embody himself around music, so much so that cutting class and not attending school for days at a time to go to the studio would be a regular routine for him. In doing so, over the years he has gotten an abundance of experience in the recording environment, from producing songs with rappers and singers that he knew from school and the neighborhood. Over the years, building a network from being in a social environment and meeting different people, both from the studio and a school full of individuals with talent, Symph is well on his way and is way ahead of the game for his age. After long talks and conversations with his parents Symph was able to duck out of College and pursue a career as a producer/engineer. He enrolled into an Audio Program at SAE, Institute of Technology, to improve upon his engineering skills. "Going to an engineering school, made my production that much better. I hear a major difference when I play my old tracks to new." In being introduced to the technical world of things, His time at SAE would have a huge impact on the path his career is heading. It brought new ideas and a new love. "Being behind an original project and to make it sound like something straight off an album out a record store is a major accomplishment, and a big step forward on the road to success". In understanding the professional technicalities of any style of music as a recording and mixing engineer, being able to create a hot track on a creative level, as being a musician, and putting together, arranging, and producing a vocal performance, Symph is going to be an unstoppable force in this music industry, and he has just started to put his master plan together. You can find this young superstar producing heat on, mix-tapes hosted by DJ Absolut, a new MTV reality show's, "When It Was Hip-Hop" compilation CD, BET instrumentals throughout a number of shows and plenty of up and coming un-signed artists.
