Fires of Atlas matches experimental imagination with solid rock sensibilities, drawing influence from such divergent artists as Arcade Fire, Audioslave, Serj Tankian, and Pete Seager. Their songs have been featured on MTV’s The Hills and Real World XX: Hollywood under their previous name Luma, as well as receiving spins on over 100 college radio stations across the country. Fires of Atlas formed in Oklahoma City in 2005, released a self-titled EP in 2006, and spent the better part of 2007 playing the regional circuit in Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and New Mexico before taking a touring break in the winter of 2007-08 to focus on writing for a new recording project. Fires of Atlas' current EP marks a new direction for the band’s sound as they enlisted Jarod Evans to produce the record at Blackwatch Studios in Norman, OK. According to Stephen, “On our first EP, we let ourselves be too limited by our influences and by conventions of normal pop structure. Now we feel like we’ve found ourselves, and we’re just writing music that we love.”
