With influences ranging from The Band and Bob Dylan to Bruce Springsteen, The Gourds and The Tragically Hip, Middle Ground's music is lyrically driven in front of a tight line-up of talented, multiple instrumentalists. The group melds classic Americana and Folk song-structures and instruments with an indie-rock backbone. The result has allowed them to share bills with such acts as both Spoon and Monte Montgomery.

In December of 2008, Middle Ground released their first full-length album. "Rooted (produced by Jeff Riensfelder at the Farm Studios in San Antonio, TX) delivers cleverly arranged, and highly textured, string-driven songs." According to Jim Beal of the San Antonio Express News. Timing the release of their album, Middle Ground became the first full band to appear and play live on Jim Beal's Third Coast Music program on KSYM.
