Singer-songwriter Fay Hallam began playing in mod band Makin Time in 1984. Playing Vox Continental and sharing lead vocals, she was a prolific contributer to the band's two albums (Rhythm and Soul, 1985) (No Lumps of Fat or Gristle Guaranteed, 1986). Both albums since re-mastered and re-issued on Big Beat records.
Makin Time, driven by Charlatans Martin Blunt, briefly signed to Stiff records and toured in the UK and abroad, and in 1987 Fay toured with Martin and ex-Prisoner Graham Day as 'The Gift Horses' producing a limited edition vinyl single on German label Fab.
Throughout the 1990s Fay moved to Hammond organ and sang in The Prime Movers, making the albums 'Earth Church' (1991) and 'Arc'(1993) and various singles and eps. The band toured extensively throughout the UK, Germany, France and Italy.
After recording 'Indian Ropeman' for Acid Jazz's Totally Wired 12 in 1996, Fay went on to write and record under the band name Phaze. She made the albums 'Who do we think you are?' (Vinyl Japan, 2001) and 'Tonewheel Generation' (2003).
2005 saw the start of the Trinity and the albums 'Realm' (2006) and '1975' (2009). Followed by 4 track ep 'Mode Selector' (Tryptic records, 2010).
