Defying conventional wisdom, the sun rises out of the west, with chemistry, corner poetics, and a refreshing approach to the art of emceeing. Originally founded in Southern California, this trio first began laying the foundation for what would later be known as Pacific Sonz in late 2002. Faraz Sahab aka Mirmadon, Israh aka Cali Ripkin, and prince ALI, have a common thread that was present in their music as solo artists that lead to inspiring collaborations, eventually solidifying the desire to join forces under the banner of enlightenment.
2006 finished with opening for the legendary Hi-Tek at mighty in San Francisco, and 07 blasted off with the eye5 recordings launch party at SF’s elite Hip- Hop venue, Mezzanine. Pacific Sonz shared the stage with Lettermen heavy hitters, Defari, Planet Asia, Rakaa (Dilated Peoples), along with Tajai, A Plus, and Opio, of the mighty Souls of Mischief Crew. The night was truly one to remember, as fellow eye5 recording artists, Destruments, provided LIVE instrumentation, giving the audience a taste of what can be expected from the eye5 recordings stable in the near future. Pacific Sonz make their presence felt on Corner Ensemble, a mix disc featuring and compiled by fellow band mate, prince ALI. Check for Faraz Sahab soul controlling on prince ALI’s Curb Side Service, due to be released summer 2007, through eye5/ Hiero Imperium. Keep an ear to the street as Pacific Sonz prepare to emerge from the Dojo with a mic, a mission, and a light to spark change.
