The Band:

Music does not have a style. It breathes trough you, it feeds upon musicians as some benevolent virus that directs you in certain way but at the same time it allows you to make your own mark on it. Upon this principle the music of Falaz is ever-changing and refuses to attach it self to a very specific style. Influences of rock, pop, metal, country, electronic, and a wide range of South American styles can be heard on our songs. The band was formed towards the end of 2004 by Vanessa (lead Vocal) and J. Dazza (Bass/ Guitar) but it was not until two years later that Santos (lead Guitar) and Derek (drums) join the ranks and gave Falaz it distinctive sound. The first album of Falaz will be released on 2007. We all think it will be great.

The Members:

Vanessa: Born in Venezuela, in 2001 she decided to leave her home and study in the United States. After she arrived, she met J.Dazza and they formed a duo known as Below. This experiment was a frustrating experience for both members of Below since all their music was intended to have drums, piano, and sometimes violin, instruments, that as Below found out, are very hard to play (especially live). Vanessa has been in a number of bands in Venezuela and it’s a bolt of energy on stage. She likes to break stuff which has cost the band quite a bundle of money and had earned a reputation of being wild and a bit dangerous on stage.

J. Dazza: Born in Colombia and moved to Miami in 1998. After Below, J asked two of his closest friends (Gian and Aless Nicolacci) to start a band with him and Vanessa. Although both brothers insisted they did not know how to play, J assured them this was not a problem. Turns out it was a problem. It took Falaz the better part of that year to get the songs right. Unfortunately the Nicolacci brothers left Falaz leaving and empty space on Guitar and Bass. J is the composer of most songs and was demoted to bass guitar since Santos is a much better guitar player. He stills plays guitar in some songs and remains close friends with the Nicolacci brothers.

Derek DiGiacomo: Drummer. A bit weird. He met Falaz while competing in s battle of the bands with his old band “Dead Letter Post Office” although they kicked ass, Falaz won that competition. In that show Derek was hitting on Vanessa without realizing she was with J; however, the night end up in laughs and drinks. From then on, Derek filled for Carlos (Falaz’s first drummer) every time Carlos did not show up as Carlos was quite unreliable. When Falaz could not find a drummer they liked, and after “Dead Letter Post Office” called the quits, Derek became the official Drummer of Falaz. He loves country, born and raised in the good ol’ USA, and is the only republican in Falaz.

Santos: Born in Ecuador, Santos’ family moved to U.S. when he was a young child and lived in California for a while before moving to South Florida. Santos met Falaz when playing in a concert with his old band “Santos Renuentes.” The next day he ran into J and Vanessa at Florida International and recognized them from the show before. This does not mean J recognized him as a fellow musician and in his distorted unrealistic mind J thought Santos was a fan of the band. Not use to having fans J invited Santos to have lunch with them and they all had a wonderful time. Santos became part of Falaz eventually after he was kicked out of “Santos Renuentes”. This does not mean that Falaz has lower standards that “Santos Renuentes” but rather that Falaz knew how to nature the genius of Santos.
