The greatest thing about music is that there is no age requirement necessary for you to create it. Fail Safe Remedy is a prime example of youth in the local circuit making great music and having a great time.

"Failsafe Remedy was the first act. The band’s work shows influences of Iron Maiden and thrash styles, but these guys take their own unique path. Elegant solo-guitar intros lead into intense collaborations between drum and electric guitar.

The front tables were quickly abandoned; the fans couldn’t help but succumb to the contagious energy of the music. The fans head banged and bounced off one another with fervor.

The guitarists threw their shaggy heads to and fro to the music while the mohawked drummer maintained a fierce look, sticking out his tongue.

Failsafe Remedy’s songs had expressive lyrics and alluring rhythms; when the set was over, it was all the more impressive to learn that the members of this band are still in their teens."

The story goes like this.

In the year 2006, a union was formed between four skilled musicians with a taste for rhythm, a surge of adrenaline, and an addiction for Mountain Dew. As vocalist/guitarist John Shafer, age 16, was searching for a godly drummer, a sky shattering guitarist, and a thundering bassist, salvation was sent in the forms of guitarist Josh Lynes, age 15, and brother Kenny Lynes, age 17, on drums, as well as bassist Mike "Miles Sllim" Mills, age 17. Hence completing the line-up of what was formerly a solo project of Shafer's, Failsafe was born. After confusion and much discussion over the fact that many bands are named "Failsafe", Fail Safe Remedy was born.

With support from local band Battleground Road, a heavy metal/punk outfit composed of Cody Bannevich, Chris Tompkins, and Wayne Cunin, Fail Safe Remedy gained experience in the art of presence as well as a first practice. After relocating to Ravenel for more practice time, material was literally flying everywhere as the combined minds of Shafer, the Lynes', and later Mills created their own style using pulsating bass and drums and in-your-face guitars, as well as moving lyrics that became part of their everyday lives. With Kenny and John sharing a jazz band course in high school, new material could be instantly shared and the foundations for many songs could be formed within a short 5 minute jam session. Eventually, the band found themselves satisfied in home recordings and began to work on immortalizing their material.

More practice and recording commenced following more practices, and after being a band for only a full two months, began posting material on MySpace, rough or polished. People began to like what they heard, slowly and steadily. Their sound is that of melodic and powerful hard rock with a distinct metal edge. With lyrics encompassing such matters as the end of the world, girlfriends, megalomaniacs, friends lost, and self appreciation as well as influences from artists such as Van Halen, Pillar, Incubus, Tool, and numerous others, the sound of the band can make you wanna move, think, and listen again.
