Preparing for lyrical warfare since the age of 11, R. STEEL ENTERTAINMENT'S, ethemadassassin has risen in the underground ranks to become one of North Carolina’s most fatal emcees through his countless live shows and a consistently sharp delivery. Whether recorded, written, performed or free styled, ethemadassassin is on the right path to become an elite rhyme-sayer.
His love for hip hop was established prior to inking his first verse, where at the time E was fascinated by the deejays, break dancing, production and the commanding sound that the emcees of his youth projected. As a result it was only a matter of time before ethemadassassin began to make his own hip hop music.
Described as “blunt, candid and real” ethemadassassin’s songs and words have captured the insight and reality of his own life experiences from Greensboro and Henderson, NC to New Jersey and farther. Compiling some of his best works in the two solo albums, “Proverbs” (2004) and “Tomorrow Never Comes” (2008) ethemadassassin has seen much success and praise in the last few years.
Landing a spot on Jump Mobile’s compilation album, “Hometown Heroes” was just the move ethemadassissin needed to reach a new range of fans. Shortly after the compilation, he charted a handful of his tracks on the underground charts in the states as well as in Canada. Adding to his success, the video for his “Tomorrow Never Comes” single, “Walk My Shoes” aired on MTVBase and FlavaTV with over a thousand views in the first months. The "Walk My Shoes" video is currently airing on Fuse Tv/Fuse On Demand's Sonicbids winner for Unsigned on Demand Urban Video Winner for January 2010.
The name, ethemadassassin was given by close friend, The One Sun Lion, whom E initially met while stopping by one of the numerous ciphers the students of NC A&T State University would organize. It was said that ethemadassassin would drop by to recite his verse and leave quickly thereafter.
The One Sun Lion described E’s verses as “potent like and assassin…assassins always popped off one fatal shot and got the job done…only the people who needed to know what happened were informed of the reasons behind the slaughter.” Whereas the “mad” component derives from E’s demeanor and the E represents the first initial of his government name.
ethemadassassin and The One Sun Lion quickly rooted their friendship through music by becoming significant components as associates of NC A&T State University’s hip hop show, Full Moon Block Party, alongside DJ's J-Flex and Ant Butta, which aired on WNAA 90.1 FM.
Working closely with the emcees of the 9th Floor crew along with Payshir and Veteran Eye, ethemadassassin’s loyalty is evident. Keeping the main production for his projects are Gav Beats, JJ the Jenius, St. Luke, Short Fuze, Mic El, The God Meta (Solomon Wise), DJ Connect, The Fakehunters, Team Futurists and more.
With the two solo albums under E’s belt, his newest project “Veteran Assassins” (2010) features a collaborative effort from both ethemadassassin and Veteran Eye with production by The Fakehunters. With the video of their first single, “Chips” the album is creating quite a demand in the underground thus far. The near future looks to hold more success for the emcee as he looks to show the world what NC has to offer by “building on the extensive foundation of hip hop by teaching the youth and supporting himself,” the true definition of a self made independent powerhouse, in short, ethemadassassin.
