Escapade was a recording studio in an old cow-shed on Greenwich South St,that was open from April 1990 until April 2009,set up by musician,writer,producer,engineer,scouser Gary Brady.It never had the best equipment in the world,or was particularly Flash(or clean or tidy!),was more like a chaotic home recording set up,in an old creaky,leaking,haunted shed!
Gary Brady-"All that I know was that bands loved working with me, in this space, and we made some great sounding records,recorded without as much stress and bullshit(that occurs in many studios)as was possible!It was all generally overlooked by the mainstream music industry,but it didn't matter,as we knew it was good,and that the industry that we all worked in was a chaotic lottery based on chance rather than rewarding excellance.The majority of my clients became and remain good friends,and also via this MYSPACE site have come to know other clients that recorded in the shed.There was a great deal of Love,warmth and respect between many of the musicians that recorded here,with many guesting on other peoples projects.Around 2007,following the break up of my family,and the credit crunch that hit most of the Western World,it all became too much for me and I had to stop as the stress was making me ill.Although I don't miss the day to day responsibility of running a studio,I do miss some of the great times in the old shed and I hope that one day in the future,somebody will discover and realise what great records were made here"-Jan 2010
"In 2009, I walked across the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain,visited Mexico,started trying to write a book and have been working on some film and cartoon projects,as well as a few low key acoustic records in my flat.I'm still available as a producer,if anybody out there,needs one!"
