Simone Lallier - Rêver (1943) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 14, 2008
DESCRIPTION:
Another forgotten singer from wartime Paris... Simone Lallier sings "Rêver" (Dreaming). It is a melancholic melody, composed by Guy Luypaerts who accompanied the singer for this recording session. He was a composer and bandleader and also accompanied Edith Piaf in 1944-45 recording sessions.

Of course this is a song about love and loss as she sings :
"Dreaming of you night and day
I keep dreaming for hours
Sending words of love to heaven..."

Lucienne Boyer recorded "Rêver" in 1945, however in my opinion Simone Lallier's version is superior as her version is more emotional and the voice stronger...

Not much is known about the singer, only one record is known to exist... The years 1938-44 were the era of the "chanteuse de charme" such as Roberta, Yolanda, Nila Cara Yane Granier and Léo Marjane who was the most famous of all of them and whose fame continues to this day... After the end of the war many of these singers disappeared into obscurity and made way for a new generation of singers and musical styles.

I made a video of wartime scenes, images of occupied Paris and the great French moviestars of that era: Danielle Darrieux, Edwige Feuillere, Madeleine Sologne, Ginette Leclerc and Viviane Romance...

Enjoy.
