Being the product of Ph.D. in Physics and Philosophy, Artist/Composer Eric Alexandrakis was fed a steady diet of Classical music by his piano instructors, starting at the ripe age of 6.

"Coming from an academic family, I was exposed to a lot of interesting people and disciplines", says Alexandrakis who grew up in a home where the occasional Nobel Prize Winner would drop by. "Growing up, I had heard many inspiring stories, especially from my parents (his father is a Physicist and main co-founder of the University of Crete, and his mother is a prominent Philosopher), and godfather (legendary Princeton Physics professor and neighbor of Albert Einstein, Eric Rogers), and hoped that some day I too would accomplish something interesting.”

Having also grown up with an interest in film music, Eric’s appetite took on a more modern focus when he discovered the melodic pop of the second British Invasion.

With a dizzying and exhilarating sound that can be uniquely experimental and pure pop at the same time, Eric Alexandrakis reveals a wide range of influences from Pop to Classical music. "I love catchy songs, but I also love sonic imagery. It's amazing how classical music can create scenes without sound effects."

Alexandrakis, who double majored in Public Relations and English Literature at the University of Miami, and has a Master's Degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industries (also from U.M.), first experimented with his unique style of home recording on a friend's borrowed 4-track recorder. The collage of sounds caught the ear of Duran Duran's John Taylor, who made Eric's music available for sale on his official website, www.TrustTheProcess.com.

While at the University, Alexandrakis produced the first Compact Disc album to contain digital watermarks (for U.M.'s student run record label). The technology created by Bluespike.com was the first of its kind, and to date is being used by most major record labels and film production companies, paving the way for modern digital protection (covered by the New York Times).

Shortly thereafter, further 4-track experimentation led to the licensing of dozens upon dozens of Eric's songs to various television shows produced by MTV, NBC, ABC, VH-1, Warner Brothers, etc. In recent years, two of his songs were included on all new models of the Rio MP3 player (300,000 units worldwide). He is also a critically acclaimed artists whose releases have cracked the Top 40 U.S. Adult Contemporary radio charts (FMQB) 3 times in recent years.

Although musically diverse, Eric is involved in a variety of artistic mediums. He mainly works with his music production & publishing company Minoan Music in providing music for film, television & advertising projects both as a solo Composer, and with his new scoring collective, which includes multi-platinum producer Anthony J. Resta (Collective Soul, Duran Duran Blondie, Elton John, Guster), guitarist Warren Cuccurullo (Frank Zappa, Missing Persons, Duran Duran), and drummer Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers). Eric has also made appearances in television commercials benefiting cancer research (Eric is a two-time survivor), and has had a few small roles in films here and there ("Miami Vice", "Dexter", etc").
