Enigma – An Architecture in Music.
"There are infinite numbers of possibilities. However, the art is to create a whole out of the countless details, fragments, and ideas. ENIGMA is becoming a kind of United Colors of Music." Michael Cretu.
When ENIGMA was heard for the first time in 1990, pop culture changed. Old rules were rejected creating an omni-cultural "sound-ship" that is provocative, experimental and connective to date. Like Noah's Ark ENIGMA has sheltered the most differing cultures on earth in rhythm, sound and voices. It is a self inventing continuity.
The multi-platinum debut "MCMXC a.D." pioneered the musical journey combining Gregorian chants with deeply sensual grooves, which evolved into the smashing follow-up, "The Cross Of Changes", a broad pan-cultural tapestry filled with rock flourishes. The third creation, "Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!", reinterprets previous elements to end in an evolutionary synthesis of sound experiences. Followed by the majestic "The Screen Behind The Mirror", the sophisticated pop album "Voyageur" and the spacy "A Posteriori" catapulted ENIGMA into cosmic spheres. It is the latest musical expedition, "Seven Lives Many Faces", that finally brought it back to earth turning into a mesmerizing combination of earthy hip-hop beats and orchestral string parts. ENIGMA is a brilliant reinvention of contemporary sound-art.
