El Cielo, translated from Spanish to mean "The Heavens/ The Sky". A band with one vision, one goal - the music, pure and simple, no gimmicks, no hair cuts and no 80's band t-shirts.
The band described as Experimental/Progressive/Metal mix crushing heaviness with melodic sensibility. The band has evolved in the last year, gaining a new bassist and a new singer which has pushed the envelope and enabled the band to find their unique and creative sound. The band, Jon Eley(vocals), Nick Crowe (bass), Jim Farey (drums) and David Dewar (guitars) have a wide range of influences, ranging from Tool, Isis, Meshuggah, Genesis, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains which, combined with their intricate, thoughtful arrangements and distinctive time signatures contribute to an expansive, heavy sound scape. Although influences are not hidden, the band's open and often organic song-writing process allows each member's diverse and individual talents to shine through, from Jon's melodic, emotive vocals, David's ominous, crawling riffs, and Nick's smooth, tight bass lines. Their potent sound is completed by Jim's driving, off-kilter drum style. El Cielo stick to their mission statement, shattering genres as they jump from metal, to heavy rock to math-rock with ease, ignoring the traditional verse/chorus structure in favour of flowing, precise music and distinctive breakdowns.

The e.p. can be purchased at all gigs and comes in two formats; one with a limited edition art package (check out the myspace photos for pictures), the other includes only the e.p
The band are currently writing and rehearsing new material in their Nottingham studio and will be gigging from late 2008. Also expect new tracks come mid 2009 with a new recording project being finalised as we speak.
