EHS Choir

The Award winning Choral Program of Edison High School is comprised of eight different Ensembles, seven of which compete nationally. Our first ensemble is the Concert Choir. The Concert Choir ranges from 100 to 150 voices and is an elective that can be taken by any Edison High School student that would like to learn how to sing choral music. You DO NOT have to audition to participate in this group. The Concert Choir performs at the Annual Spring and Winter concerts as well as several middle school performances during the year. The A Cappella Choir is comprised of 50 to 80 students all of whom are selected via audition. Some of the best vocalists in our school are members of this award winning ensemble. This distinguished group travels to many local functions, performs annually with the Edison Arts Society Orchestra, and competes in National Choral Competitions throughout the United States. To date this ensemble has amassed more than 100 first place trophies with superior ratings. Jazz Choir is comprised of 20-40 students drawn from the A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers. They perform a variety of jazz and musical theater-type arrangements. The Chamber Singers is made up of no more than 18 singers, all of whom are selected via audition from the A Cappella Choir. This is the most selective of the eight groups in our program. Many of these singers study music privately and qualify for participation in Regions and All-State Choruses. Their repertoire is diverse and includes Madrigals and carefully selected popular arrangements. This group has never received anything less than a superior rating. Other groups in our department include the award winning Treble Choir and Mens Ensemble. Treble Choir is made up of all womens voices and Mens Ensemble is comprised of all mens voices. Our last two groups are Beauty Shop and Barber Shop. Both are very selective as there are only 4 students in each group. The Choirs of Edison High School have enjoyed a long history of success and growth for many years. We look foward to the continuation of this trend in the future.
