Echoes of Silence originally started in 1998 under the name of Dark Divinity. Drawing from the influences of early black metal bands and romantic/baroque classical composers such as Frdric Chopin, Claude Debussy and Nicol Paganini. Dark Divinity eventually faded out and died in early 1999 due to constant loss of members. So Mortis decided to lead his project on while still playing in his main project at the time which was Mournful Silence.

So in 1999, Mortis of Mournful Silence quit and made Echoes of Silence his main project (leading on what was left of Dark Divinity). Many things were looking bad at that time but it was as if he avoided them all. Soon after the leave of his former band, the members of Mournful Silence split up and went their separate ways.

In late 1999, Mortis later changed his identity to Leviticai and the band's name to Echoes of Silence as a symbol of new things to come and around that time he also changed his sound. He also later added ex-Mournful Silence/The Master's Apprentice guitarist Demonicus to his lineup. They wrote a lot of material and lyrics dealing with the past up to how organized religion such as Christianity has ruined our society (most of the material was never released to the public). They recorded their first demo "Echoes in the Night" with just a simple drum machine and guitars. The recording quality wasn't all that great but the music was well put together. They handed out the demos to people in the area and being limited to a hundred copies, they sold them all (at the time, they were only $2.00).

Shortly after the recording of Echoes in the Night, Demonicus left the band due to personal reasons. Leviticai spent a lot of time doing music alone. He released his first full length "Where No Sun Shines" on Anno Satannas Records at the beginning of 2004. The album was more ambient doom than black metal. With dark and eerie synths and dark tones, the album had filled the gap between doom metal, ambient, industrial and black metal.

Later, Leviticai released his second album "Thy Darkest Desires EP", also on Anno Satannas Records in 2005. Being a little heavier and more complex, the album caught interest in many. Being an all instrumental album, many related it to late Burzum. The album had dark synths putting listeners in a depressed mood.

After some time, Leviticai decided to search for another member. He later found Dominicus (current Demonichrist guitarist). Later seeing that he was not fit for Echoes of Silence, Leviticai had to let him go. Leviticai later met Lord Onigumo (ex-Gorthyrmus member). Leviticai and Lord Onigumo released their third album from Echoes of Silence called "Raven Dusk". It was expected to be their best work of all time. Inspired by early Bathory, Burzum, Behemoth and Carpathian Forest, the album was a return to pure, raw, evil black metal. After a few months past, Leviticai decided to do Echoes of Silence alone.

Echoes of Silence released some material in between (mainly small EP's and splits). With later releases like "The Grand Masquerade" and "The Midnight Opera," Leviticai returned to black metal scene with more of a symphonic influence.

Known for working only with synthetic guitars, keys and drums, Echoes of Silence has placed itself in it's own category. With the release of "Stormbringer," Leviticai returned to his roots and brought in Stephen Traunmuller (Golden Dawn) to play guitars and bass. As of now, Echoes of Silence is recording a new album entitled "LOVE EMBRACES DEATH" which will be released through SET Productions and Riottron Records and will continue to remain an essential band in the rise of USBM. Echoes of Silence believes in only making the most evil and dark symphonic black art imaginable. Echoes of Silence is NOT a NSBM band, not a Satanic band, nor is Echoes of Silence part of any occult groups or political organizations. Echoes of Silence does share the common hatred for organized religion due to its corruption of our society.

I am simply a musician who purges my frustration, anger, sorrow, depression, and pure fucking hatred through the music I create. In that sense, the use of Satanic imagery only stems from a desire to emulate the quintessential darkness, fear, and all that is bleak in this existence.

With that said, expect much out of this band. With it's big following and wide range of sound, Echoes of Silence is out to change the views of the Black Metal genre once again.
