12" out on LoDubs

The story goes that, a couple of years back, Ebola visited Anthem, the Portland (Orgeon) record store which doubles as LoDubs HQ. He bought some italo disco records, and struck up conversation with the guys on the counter about how he was beginning to work on dubstep-tempo tracks as well as the punishing bass-drenched breakcore for which he was already known.

So they asked him for some tracks, and you can work out how the tale progresses from there… ‘Galash’, featuring a typically brash and confrontational vocal from French female rap duo Face A Face, is a high-impact three-minute ramraid in which a dubstep-fueled hotrod smashes and grabs from the hip hop rope chain display. ‘Oh!!’ throws fierce buzzsaw subs and decorous synth riffs into the blender along with a rubble of hardcore beats, resulting in an earth-shaking sonic personality crisis that’s adddictive as it is unsettling.

‘Alpha Paw’ is stretched and distorted attack on the wobbler format, pulled out and twisted into new shapes guaranteed to wind up the club, and closer ‘Kaiju’ is a rampant gallop through 2-step, garage and funky beat-schemes that emerges at the other end triumphant in it’s systematic demolition and giddily psychotic reconfiguration of them.

All the feedback on this ferocious release so far has been super-nice, with Si Begg, Murderbot, and Raffertie all showing support for what is yet another in a long line of highly individual and singular-sounding outings on LoDubs.
