TOMMY RICH

Lawrence Anthony Wooden Jr., also known as “Tommy Rich” to the rap game, is a Hip Hop Legend in the making from Memphis, Tennessee. Since 1981, the day Tommy Rich was born, he felt he always had a passion for music in his heart. Born into a large family, a variety of music was heard throughout his household. Inspired by his uncle Cedric Hewitt, who is self-made man likes to stomp to beat of his own rhythm. Cedric exposed Tommy to all of the old school hits that inspired him to want to create his own sound.



He was able to do that when his mother Janice Wright brought him his first drum set at the age of 3. From then on he knew what his calling was; he was going to be the next super star. He began to get physically involved in music at the age of nine. By sampling the beginning of songs with his tape recorder he began making beats. He would record his music using his uncle’s radio by rapping loudly into the speakers as he tape record himself.



At the age of fifteen Tommy Rich began hustling in the streets and had earned enough money to where he was able to afford his first real Akai MPC-2000. He taught himself how to use the equipment and began making beats. “Music is my escape from the world, when I’m in my studio… it’s just me and the music. It’s like all my problems, stress, and other issues just seem to fade away for the moment” Tommy Rich stated during our discussion.



Presently, Tommy Rich is a producer and independent recording artist residing in Atlanta, GA. He has even started his on independent entertainment label, City Slick Entertainment, Inc. Working hard to ensure that his albums are a success, Tommy Rich continues to strive to build a successful record label and investment group. “When I perform in front of crowds, I feel like my hard work is finally paying off. It’s a wonderful feeling”. Even though he has many personal contacts in the industry, Tommy Rich feels that his time, effort, and talent will take him far beyond many people’s dreams and expectations. Without a doubt, I feel that his strong desire and endless effort to accomplish what is said to be a life-long passion is definitely paying off.
