Lifting their name from a battle shrine in Asia, Ear Mound Shrine’s (EMS) larger than life stage presence demands a personal connection with their audience. Sticking closely to classic rock roots, these southern guys collectively have over 43 years of musical experience.

The EMS chronicle is a twisted voyage through small town Louisiana. Cutting their chops in a Tool cover band, Chris Stewart (drums) and Cody Lockeby (guitar, vocals) have been collaborating for 6 years. Stewart, a true “star child” of musical talent, never ceases to amaze audiences with his off the charts technical skill. Lockeby is the dominant song-writer, his vocal styles play predominantly from Pearl Jam, CCR, and Led Zeppelin. Raw and dynamic. Whether at the dinner table, work, or practice, future EMS melodies flow through Cody with natural ease. Kenneth Sanders (bass, vocals) and Chris played in the band Sixty Cycle strengthening the rhythm section now known as EMS. Known as “The God,” to young local musicians, Sanders has schooled many in the art of running sound and appreciating vintage equipment. He has over 23 years of music involvement ranging from bass, drums, trumpet, singing or engineering sound. EMS wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed their debut album at Sander’s home studio, Spacelab 420.

Understanding the importance of an album that boasts quality sound, EMS sought the mastering skills of famed engineer Rodney Mills. He has worked with Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, and Journey. With standout tracks such as “Hey,” “Give It” and “Beggars, Choosers, Liars, and Thieves,” their album quickly gained recognition from around the state and beyond. They have played gigs at the following establishments, to name a few: The Blue Monkey (Monroe), O’Rileys (Dallas), and at The Cancer Benefit at The University of Louisiana at Monroe. EMS has been on regular rotation on the following radio stations: KXUL 91.1, The SoupyGato Show in Michigan, KEDM 90.3. For additional reviews of EMS simply ask any band they’ve ever played with. Here are a few: The Feds, Squint, Junior, The Dead Twins, Riverside Railway, and Vehicle Reason.
