I love music for my whole life. First thing I remember is a song from late eighties called Girlz from our kindergarten. I think the only reason for my admiration was that I went to kindergarten as well by that time. With our old Tesla gramophone Ive started to watch Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and also Dada Patrasova. With first tape player my style has changed. I went through a bunch of various genres beginning with dance (DJ Bobo, Loft, Pharao, Scooter. even legendary U96, LA Style, Misteria or Dance 2 Trance). As I grew older Ive left this crap behind and started to look for something more alternative. The D day of my search came when I tuned on the Radio 1 for the first time. It was something like a breakpoint in my cultural life. Starting with Bjork, Groove Armada, Leftfield, Propellerheads, Tribal Drift, Significant Other, Hypnotix, Kraftwerk or Lamb.
Nowadays Im most into rap, hiphop, rnb, drumnbass and downtempo music. My plan is to keep in touch with as many styles as possible and my only gauge is quality. I like jazz very much (George Clinton, Joe Zawinul), pop (REM, Nelly Furtado), downtempo (Thievery Corporation, Cafe del Mar compilations), incidental music (Ennio Morricone, Phil Glass), czech production (EOST, Lenka Dusilova), psytrance (Cosmosis, Dynamic), trance (BT, Juno Reactor, Schiller), drum and bass (Ed Rush, Optical, TeeBee, Aphrodite, Nookie, DJ Suv), electro (Emmanuel Top, Dynamix II), house (Junior Jack, Trentemoller). Judge by yourself if Im trying to be trendy or whatever but last two years are comming in a name of hip-hop and rnb. Most of all Timbaland and The Neptunes. From time to time these infiltrate my playlist. Premier, Ultramagnetic MCs, Mobb Deep, Alchemist, Nas, Non Phixion, Method Man and instrumentalz from Dr Dre and Scott Storch.
Ive started with computer based composing of music in 1997. Passed through legendary lands of ScreamTracker, FastTracker and ImpulsTracker I got further to FruityLoops and ModPlug Tracker. My final destination thats where Im now is Reason and Im really comfortable with it. Now Im using a powerfull combination of Reason and Cubase which Ive connected together via ReWire interface. In practise 90% of a piece is made in Reason stuff and mastered in Cubase using plugins. I dont use VST instruments at all. Im having fun with them, but you wont hear em in any song.
