About Time – The Biography of Dynasty and Padrino

Urban GQ duo Edwin Veras (Dynasty) and Giovanni Suárez (Padrino) knows too well how to play the waiting game. Signed over a year ago to the now defunct Urban Box Office (UBO), the duo had its debut album “No Pierdas Tu Tiempo”, a smooth trilingual reggae/dancehall CD ready for release back in September of 2006.

The boys were an A&R’s dream come true: Dynasty sings in Spanish, English and Patois, while Padrino raps and produces most of the tracks. Both have charisma, talent, perseverance and patience. Ironically, that patience may have gotten the best of them. While waiting to launch the album, UBO kept the pair busy writing lyrics and creating beats for label mates Reggaetón Niños, who go on to sell more than 200,000 copies and hit 2 of the Billboard Music Charts, and bachata pop group Voz a Voz, who recently went Gold.

UBO then decides to hold the album and instead distribute 25,000 copies of their mixtape in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. During this time, Dynasty and Padrino earned their stripes embarking on a 15 City tour, performing all over the U.S. in events such as the Billboard Latin Music Conference, Festival Calle Ocho, Latin GRAMMY ® Street Parties, Reggaetón on the River, and abroad in numerous festivals throughout Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Argentina and Colombia, and alongside major artists like Tego Calderón, Wisín y Yandel, Alexis y Fido, Beenie Man, Pitbull and Ivy Queen, amongst others.

Unfortunately, due to financial mismanagement UBO goes bankrupt in December 2006. Fast forward to June 2007. Dynasty and Padrino go back to the studio, record over 100 new tracks and decided to establish their own production company La Zona Franka Inc along with longtime partner Jose “The DA” Salcedo.

Currently on a quest to find a new label to call home, Dynasty and Padrino are proving that they can also stand the test of time, as their hot new singles ‘Nervioso’, an R&B /Dancehall fusion, ‘Dangerous’ a reggae-pop, and dancehall party starter ‘1,2’ already have gained a steady following with club DJs across the country and fans on MySpace.com/DynastyandPadrino.
