". this guy caught my attention right off the bat. His name is Shannon Dyer and he sounds like a mix between Craig Morgan and Garth Brooks. “I’m Not Here” is my favorite song on his MySpace profile, which he co-wrote with Robert Ellis Oral. Shannon’s vocals come through really strong with the acoustic guitar in the background. I really like the other songs on his page, both his slow and fast songs all sound great. He seems to be a pretty stand up guy and determined to pursue his dream, which I think he has the potential to make it as far as he wishes. "

--Jenna Vercher, The 9513 Country Music

Shannon Dyer was raised in the small town of Tompkinsville, Kentucky. After graduating from Monroe County High School in 1997, Dyer moved to Nashville, TN, to pursue his lifelong dream in the heart of the country music industry. Being underage made it difficult for Dyer to get into bars to sing, but he was finally given an opportunity while working as a desk clerk at the Quality Inn Hotel. It was there that he made friends with the owners, Ted and Tom Lagarde, known as the Lagarde twins. Recognizing his talent, the Lagarde twins gave Dyer the chance to perform at the Quality Inn Hall of Fame Lounge. He pulled double duty for the hotel working the front desk during the day and entertaining in the lounge at night. After a year of refining his act at the hotel, Dyer ventured into downtown Nashville and started performing at The Carousel and Lonnie's. Wanting a more meaningful life, he turned toward the military.

Dyer enlisted in the United States Army and gave five years of Active Duty in support of our nation as a Military Policeman. Dyer's assignments included being stationed overseas in Hohenfelds, Germany, and stateside in Brooklyn, NY. While stationed in Europe, Dyer recalls the musical highlights of his duty as his opportunities to sing on both television and radio in Kosovo. During his Tour of Duty in New York, Dyer's greatest musical honors included singing "The National Anthem" and "God Bless the USA" in honor of the troops at many military functions and 'Support the Troops' rallies, as well as NBA basketball games for the New Jersey Nets.

When asked, Dyer always credits the U.S. Army--the discipline, values, way of life--for bringing out the man in him and shaping him into the man he is today.

After the completion of his Active Duty service in 2005, Dyer headed back to Music City where he, once again, began pursuing his music. He married his true love on March 17, 2007. He and his wife, Allye, have just finished building and settling into their brand new house; as they are making their lifelong home in Denham Springs, Louisiana, where Allye was born and raised and they have the support of her family and friends. Dyer also continues to serve his country in the Army Reserve. He is making a career out of his military service as an Army Reserve Recruiter in Baton Rouge, LA. He is a part of Tigertown Recruiting and just received his promotion from Staff Sergeant to Sergeant First Class.

Though recruiting keeps him busy, he still enjoys singing and songwriting. While he is no longer based in "Music City", he has had no shortage of opportunities to sing. He continuously gets offers to perform at weddings, receptions, local establishments, plus lots of community functions. It didn't take long for the residents of Denham Springs to realize the talent living in their midst.

Thanks to producer and friend, Robert Ellis Orral, Dyer spent studio time in Nashville recording and writing. He just recently spent studio time recording a few new songs with local musician and friend Rusty Elkins. They plan on collaborting in the near future.

Dyer's music is extremely versatile. He ranges from traditional country classics to the contemporary country music of today to southern rock. With this broad range at his shows, there is entertainment value for all.
