Biography Of James Hawkins (aka) JacJames

Of

D.S.G. (Dirty South Gangstas) formerly known as Jac Town Boyz

James Hawkins (aka) JacJames was born and raised in the rough streets of Jackson (Jac-Town) Mississippi. Growing up was not an easy task for this aspiring rap artist. Living in a single-parent home, his mother, Flora Ragsdale would work odd jobs to make ends meet.

Jay moved from state to sate with his mother and three siblings trying to find a place to call home. Moving from Mississippi to Michigan to Atlanta, only to return to the one place he called home…Jac-Town.

Jay was raised most of his life by his grandmother, Ernestine Earnest, who he referred to as “Gee”. He formed an inseparable relationship with Gee and held on to the words of wisdom she instilled in his mind, even after her passing in July of 2001, which had a drastic effect on his life.

Over the years the streets of Jackson worsened with violence and drugs. Jay hustled trying to make a better life for his daughter. Mississippi not giving him the opportunity to advance in the music industry, he packed up and moved to Atlanta with his two aunts, cousins and siblings, leaving the rough streets of Jackson behind, but taking the mentality with him.

In the year 2003 Jay met fellow rap artist Deshaunn “Dee” Harris (aka) Phoenix. Jay and Dee met one another while working for the same warehousing company, not knowing that they had common interests, but both aspiring rap artists coming out of Jackson, Mississippi. They formed a trusting friendship and became close and supportive while trying to accomplish the music industry. Jay and Dee heard one another’s rap skills and decided to form the group formerly known as Jac Town Boyz.

Jay and Dee worked with several producers including Mike and Shawn of Kool Kats Productions, which is located in Stone Mountain, GA. Mike and Shawn produced three tracks off the upcoming album, Hard Tymes. Not limiting their eagerness to strive in the industry, Jay and Dee also worked with “O” of Urban Stylz Records. O has done several tracks with famous artists such as, Cindy Lauper and Boy George. O has also worked with upcoming artist known as Saint, who has produced five tracks on the Hard Tymes album. Saint is also featured on the song “Let Us In The Game.”

In 2005, Jay and Dee met a third member from a mutual friend by the name of “Q”, who calls himself Pos@threat. This forced them to change the name of the group to D.S.G., which stands for Dirty South Gangstas.

While hungry to succeed in this vicious, but steadily growing industry, D.S.G. has done several performances all over Atlanta, including Clark Atlanta University. When asked where the name JacJames generates from Jay tells them. “Because this is where my home is and will always be… in the dirty south!”

Biography of Deshaunn “Dee” Harris (aka) Phoenix

Of

D.S.G. (Dirty South Gangstas) formerly of Jac Town Boyz

Deshaunn “Dee” Harris was born in Jackson, Mississippi. Mississippi, the Dirtiest of the South, rich in the history of persecuting black people. Dee was raised between god and the devil. Growing up, Dee also know as “Phoenix”, lived with his mother and grandmother, who was a gambling, pistol toting, card player that lived directly above a night club.

At night Dee would sit and listen to the music that came from downstairs for hours on end until he would fall asleep; music a child his age should not have heard. During that timeframe his great grandmother made the decision to put him in the church choir. At church Dee learned to sing, but only practiced on R&B songs.

In the 80s the movie “Break Dancing” came out in the summer while Dee was visiting family in Chicago and that is how he learned to break dance. Dancing became his first passion. Dee did not learn to rap until he realized he had something to say.

Eventually, dancing got him into the venue of listening to artist like Luke, 2 Live Crew, 8 Ball and MJG, Scarface, Master P and other various artists. During this time Dee decided to leave Mississippi in pursuit for a higher level of entertainment. He moved to DC to fulfill his music side, not only to support himself, but also his young daughter who he states is his “one and only inspiration for higher achievement”, “the flame that lights his passion”.

The music industry in Washington DC started to shift itself further down south and that is when he decided to relocate to Atlanta, GA. The opportunities here were much greater and stronger. While living in Atlanta Dee started doing shows with “Upscale Entertainment”, a prestigious entertainment company based in Atlanta.

During that time, Dee took on a warehousing position where he met Jay (aka) JacJames in the year 2003. Both having the same hunger for the rap industry and being from Jackson, Mississippi, knowing how it was to survive on the rough streets, they bonded almost instantly forming the group Jac Town Boyz.

Dee and Jay started to record songs that had a southern flava with a twist of R&B; songs such as “Down” and “Catch Me Mane”, which are both on the upcoming album “Hard Tymes.” The majority of the songs on their album were produced by Mike of Kool Kats Productions, located in Stone Mountain, GA.

In the year 2005, Dee and Jay met another aspiring rapper by the name of “Q” (aka) Pos@threat. “Q” brought the South Carolina rap style to the group, where they made a decision to change their name to D.S.G. (Dirty South Gangstas). D.S.G. has performed at various clubs throughout Atlanta, making a way for their name in the rap industry.

Biography of Marques “Q” Pigatts (aka) Pos@threat

Of

D.S.G. (Dirty South Gangstas) formerly of H.M.C. (Homicide Murder Click)

Marques C. Pigatts, the 21 year old artist, formerly known as Pos@threat was born in Florence, South Carolina, but raised most of his life in Decatur, Georgia. “Decatur, where it’s greater”, is where the popular saying originates from.

Marques, also known as “Q” to the people around him, was raised by his mother, Diane McCall, who he considers a strong, black woman that plays a major part in his life. As Q grew up on the streets of Decatur, he found himself seeking the knowledge that he would need not only to build on his career, but to survive in the streets of Decatur. Q first started experimenting with music, while he was attending McNair Middle School located in Decatur, GA.

From rapping in the cafeteria, to making beats banging off the desks in class, Q thrived to succeed in the music industry. Listening to underground artists such as Too Short, Tupac, 3 6 Mafia, and UGK, Q considered these individuals his main inspirations.

Going back and forth to South Carolina during the summers to spend with his

grandmother, Q and his mother decided to move back to South Carolina in the spring of

2003. During that time Q met up with a couple of boys from around his way that were also into the rapping scene and that is when they decided to form the group H.M.C. (Homicide Murder Click). H.M.C. performed songs such as “Boonkey” and “The South Carolina Anthem” which were produced under the record label Str8/Snapping based out of Florence, South Carolina.

In the winter of 2005, Q and his mother decided to relocate back to Atlanta for various reasons. Q decided to pursue his long lived dream as a rap artist when he returned back. Around this time he met Jay (aka)JacJames while living in the same apartment complex located in Stone Mountain, GA. With Q’s South Carolina fast rapping flava along with a twist of Jay’s Mississippi laid back style they co-wrote the songs “What It Do”, “Bubble” and “Muggin’ Foe” off their upcoming album “Hard Tymes.”

Later on Q was introduced to Dee (aka) Phoenix, by Jay (JacJames) and because all three members were under different group names they decided to form one of their own; they called themselves D.S.G., short for Dirty South Gangstas.

With Q’s skills and rapping techniques it gave a different style to DSG.

D.S.G. has performed at several clubs and colleges located throughout Atlanta, GA. Trying hard and steadily to leave their mark on the rap music industry.
