Roy Hodges (b. 5/13/16 - d. 7/28/89) Born and raised in the agricultural town of Apopka, FL in the spring of 1916, Hodges began reading scripture and preaching the gospel at an early age. Known locally for the outstanding community services performed by his ministries. Happy Hollow Baptist Church was founded in 1952 and closed it's doors in 1986 when some greedy lawyers forced Roy to give up the lot where it stood. Tragedy struck in the summer of 1989 when the Pastor was fatally attacked by a wild panther while sitting in his backyard. The continued expansion of Disneyworld resort communities were pushing the Florida panthers out of their natural habitat, causing them to prey on unexpecting citizens. He was also a notable singer and occasional choir director, having maintained the Happy Hollow Choir for over 23 years. The Pastor's gravesite was relocated to the nearby town of Waycross, FL in 2006 when the Woodgerson Cemetery was purchased through a monopoly by Goldcorp International. He now lies restfully next to his brother Melvin in a nice cemetery beside the banks of the Chappapaloopskee river. Mr. Hodges is survived by one son and three daughters, his son operates Happy Hollow Ministries and his three daughters are devout clergy members.
